Picked up the new wheels in the pouring rain today.

Mods to date:

1. 17” x 8.5” Fuel Octane +14 Offset
2. Mickey Thompson Atz P3 265/70/17
3. Rhino Platform rack & Backbone.
4. Front window tint.
5. Alpine Roof mount dvd for the kids
6. Kings throttle controller.
7. Roadsafe front recovery points x 2
8. Steinbauer Chip/Module
9. AMTS awning brackets to suit Rhino Platform
10. Stedi 41.5” ST3k Single row light bar with Toyota Genuine harness.
11. Provent Catch Can
12. ARB battery tray
13. 85ah Deep Cycle Agm
14. Projecta IDC25 Battery Charger
15. Rear cargo false floor (18mm ply with marine carpet)
16. Waeco Cfx 40 with Cfx slide to suit.
17. Kings 2.5m x 2.5m Awning (Debadged)

We got a Vx but I was after black wheels and the missus gave me the green light so I got it done straight up before she changed her mind. Already sold the original wheels to another member on here so a nice easy turnaround. I will upload some decent pics when we have some sunshine again.

Got the Alpine Roof mount DVD player installed today! Very happy with install & unit.
Only had a quick play with it so far but the resolution is amazing.
Some of the features include USB and HDMI playback capability so should keep the little ones well and truly entertained on those long trips.




Front window tint booked in for tomorrow.

Front window tint completed today. Hopefully rhino rack and backbone arrive this week too so I can get them fitted up.

Had a busy afternoon today.

Picked up the new rhino platform & backbone mounting system.
Got home from work and couldn’t help myself. (3hrs later) all done and dusted.
Very happy with how the platform looks.
Now I just need to work out what accessories to mount to it. Might need to make up new awning brackets, max trax mounts and a slimline light bar to mount up front.

Hi mate car looks great , I am tossing up between a VX and Kakadu , is the suspension standard on yours ? Trying to get an idea of what the biggest tyre is I can go with standard suspension.

The Vx has standard suspension setup at the moment. I have fitted Mickey Thompson Atz P3 Tyres that are 265/70/17 in size.

The Tyres do not rubber at all. (Although they might off-road under compression)

I changed the wheels and Tyres on the day of delivery.

I think the best and most common increase in tyre size without a lift is 1 x profile taller than standard.

If you are keeping the factory wheels, the equivalent tyre size for the 18” rim would be 265/65/18. I previously had these fitted on my last Vx with no issues of rubbing.

If you are referring to the Mickeys. I paid $365 a piece although a week after I got them the were on sale for $345.. always the way isn’t it!

As for the Vx, it’s 2018 build and complianced. Had factory mats & towbar included for $72,000 drive Away.

Installed a Steinbauer module today.

Well I actually had it installed for the last 300km but removed it for the 1,000km complimentary service so our friends at Toyota don’t see it.

So tonight it was reinstalled. A little neater than I previously had.

Really happy with the gain in performance.

I guess the best explanation is “drivability”.

The car just drives a whole lot nicer imo.

No “mind blowing” increase in power but that isn’t what I was after. It just feels soo much better.

All in all.

Picked up and installed a set of roadsafe front recovery points today.

During the install I was a little frustrated as I noticed that both recovery points would foul slightly on the welds on the front mounting hole where it bolts to the chassis.

Secondly the plates don’t sit perfectly flat against the chassis across each mounting hole. There is a difference of around 3mm from the front mounting hole to the rear mounting hole. After a few attempts I decided that packing each point with 12mm stainless washers would achieve a square mount to the chassis and also maintain clearance of the welds.

i have attached some pics to help explain my situation. If anyone has further info it would be appreciated.

If I have done the right thing, hopefully this will help someone else if they are going through the same installation.
