    Re: Sam's 150 V6

Had my Firestone Coil-Rite airbags installed today. Very happy with the result. They were installed by Motor Court Toyota in Mornington, VIC and they did a brilliant job, particularly with the fabrication of the bracket at the back which is very neat.

Looking forward to giving them a go on our upcoming Eyre Peninsula towing the camper.

    Cheers, Sam.

Yeah been reading about your fuel consumption drama's :|

Say can you tell me what size Waeco you've got in the boot? I'm looking to downgrade from a CF80 as we don't require such a big bugger anymore and am still tossing up what size we should look at. Yours appears to not take up too much room, whereas obviously our 80 times up a decent chunk of boot space :|

                  Sam's 150 V6

Well had my DRIFTA drawers delivered on Friday and spent yesterday arvo knocking up the wing kit. Very impressed with the quality and the ease in which the drawers slide on the plastic skids. I really like the fact that nothing can really go wrong with them. No dust to get in roller bearings etc. The new side wing bracket holders that allow the brackets to be easily removed are a work of art! I still have to put the tie down eyes on the side of the drawers which I'll do today. I designed it so the main drawer unit sits just inside the factory tie down points. I'll then just run a strap from the tie down eyes on the Drifta to these factory points to secure it to the car. I can have the whole thing in and out in 5 minutes.

Here're some pics. Just need to mount the fridge slide on top now.

                  Drawers only

                  With wing kit

                  Drawers out

Sorry about the pic quality from the iPhone in the dark garage.

                  Cheers, Sam.

Looking forward to adding bits and pieces over time turning the Prado into a good touring vehicle capable of some weekend fun on the tracks as well.

Factory options I went for were
                      1. The cargo barrier (although it needs to be refitted at the first service) see here for details viewtopic.php?f=45&t=9175
                      2. Towbar (looks aside, I reckon it'll provide great protection for the rear bumper off road)
                      3. Redarc Brake Controller
                      4. As well as the obligatory rubber mats (including cargo area)

                      Redarc Brake Controller fitting

                      Hi Sam

Great looking rig. I am installing a second battery in my 150 . Can you let me know where you earthed your second batter?
Is this one your cranking or secondary battery?

Mine will be my cranking battery as I am unable to fit a high capacity battery in space provided.

Since then, I have added Rhino Sportz cross bars which I will attach my Rhino Platform Rack to. I pinched this from my Pajero before I traded it. A great low profile rack!

I've also had BFG AT's in 275/65/R17 added which look great and are really quiet. Highly recommend Nathan at Jax Quickfit in Caulfield South. Great price and easy to deal with. Oh and the free Black Max Compressor promo BFG has at the moment is great too. Received mine yesterday.

                      BFG AT 275/65/R17

My first bit of DIY on the new Prado was to install a dual battery system. I grabbed a aux battery tray from Derek at ABR and a Redarc isolator. Mounting the battery tray was very straight forward with the instructions from Derek. Re the mounting of the isolator, there are two captive nuts in the engine bay (drivers side) near the wheel arch that are the perfect distance apart for matching the mounting holes on the isolator. You need to mount it on a diagonal but is much easier than having to drill new holes.

                      Redarc isolator mounting

                      Aux Battery (Supercharge Allrounder)

Modified power steering and aircon bracket

Unfortunately my 75ah Exide Extreme battery didn't fit (slightly too long) in the space so I had to settle with a Supercharge Allrounder 60ah which fits with space to spare. The Exide will now go into our camper as a second battery for that.

Next DIY mod will be to install my GME TX 3440 and aerial and then an Anderson plug (probably ABR kit) to the rear for charging our camper batteries.

                      Future mods wish list includes:

                      1. Polyair Bags
                      2. Bullbar (leaning towards TJM Type 3)
                      3. Two inch lift
                      4. Airtech Snorkel
                      5. Window Tint

Just need to put some $$$ in the piggy bank first

                      Cheers, Sam.

Earthed the 2nd battery back to the main battery. We use a Supercharge Allrounder as the aux battery. Only 60ah but does the job for us. We usually tow an offroad camper with a 140ah battery on board.

                          Cheers, Sam.

No probs. The drawers were about $900 delivered including the materials to build the wings and also the new side brackets and holders to site the wings on.

Luke is very good to deal with at Drifta.

                                Re: Sam's 150 V6

Well, I finaly built up the courage to drill 8 6mm holes in the top of my new Drifta drawer system. I wanted away to secure the fridge slide but also an easy way to be able to remove it to provide a flat spot for the dog to sit whilst we're not on a trip.

The solution was to use captive nut inserts that allow a 6mm bolt to be used to secure the slide.

In the end it turned out really well and all of the holes lined up. I reckon it's now more secure than if 'd just screwed it down and it can be taken out in under 5 minutes.

                                Here's some pics.

                                Drilling the first hole.

The captive nut inserts for ply.

They screw in with an allen key.

                                Nice and snug.

                                All bolted in.

                                The final result.

                                Cheers, Sam.
