  • BDA build 09 gxl d4d

Ok the time has come to start the build up on the Prado with lots and lots of reading on here over the last year or so I am ready to start. I got the car just over 12 months ago and it had a ECB ally bar, gme uhf, Hella 1000 spotties and a window tint before delivery. 40,000km on it since then and had many trips to double island and a few runs up to 1770.

I have been down to uv4x4 today and put the order in for a few more items First off was to get rid of the Hellas as they are a waste of time(stupid me listened to the salesman) and put on ipf 900xs with the hid upgrade  next was a dual battery kit with ctek dc to dc converter and 100amp/h battery with plugs in the back for the Engel that I got on the weekend. A safari snorkel is getting bolted on the front as well. A mate is making me up a side awning as I type this I was so close to getting the OME kit put on to but am still a bit worried about losing the ride for the 90% of the time she spends on the black stuff :?: also trying to decide on tyres for her when the grandgraps run out of life :?: :?:

Ok that’s it for now will try to put up some photos soon.

    Cheers

Nice prado, welcome to the build up pages. It can be a little expensive but you end up with a rewarding drive .By the way if you do change the suspension you should find it is actually better on the tar.

With all the other 120s on here there's so many different ideas to pick an choose from, you just about need a year to get your head around it all. Look forward to seeing how it pans out.

I'm with you on the lift dilemma. I'd like the extra clearance but gee i love how it drives at the moment...

HI, I changed my worn out springs and shocks on my old 2005 Prado for OME and it was heaps better on the road, when i got my 2009 i changed the suspension at on 300kms and there was also a noticable improvement on and off road.

          Keep up the good work.

          Cheers Andrew

Hi madkore I ended up getting the predator internal ballist ones and am very happy with them but it did take a minute or two to get used to the white light not yellow.

Great to see the rocket launchers (surf rod holders) on the bullbar. Clearly the sign of a scholar and gentleman!
I had trouble with one of your photos, but did you mean you had a set of Maxtrax? I used mine a couple of weeks ago at Ngala Rocks on Fraser and they were brilliant (to help get a Pathfinder moving that was bogged down to the underbelly.) Looks like a great build up of your D4D.
                          I'd suggest you consider a Scanguage 2 - a very useful accessory.

Enough is enough so after hours of reading on here, other places on the net and talking to way to many tyre salesmen I have ordered the duellers and should have them on the car monday :-) Now all I have to do is take the plunge and order the ome for her although I did get a very good price for billies/kings but am a bit worried that the b/k set up will lift it a bit to much and have been told that the ome will have better flex/drop??

Hey travelman the rocket launchers went on as soon as she got home from the dealer :-) Yes I have myself a set of maxtrax but like you have only used them to get someone else out (hilux) on the inland track at bribie. The build up is starting to come along very well now and I am happy with everything I have done so far.
