  • Hello from germany (2010 150 manual)

The Prado is called in germany simply "Landcruiser" and I just bought one.
In the past I simply read every post in this forum to get any inspiration for my car, what to do and what not. Great information here !
I am sure, I will never be able to meet one of you guys overthere, but I just want to share my rig with you:

It´s stock at the moment, nothing special:

A Diesel Manual, just plain and simple.

On the way to me are some black rims with BFG´s and a roofrack.
Next year, when I got some money back, I plan to give it some protection and a lift.

    Hope you like it,

    Thanks Pete

        Welcome!

Do you get custom (personalised) rego plates over there, or is the 'LC 150' part of the plate just a coincidence?
2004 Grande V6 4.0, ARB colour coded bar, Magnum 9k winch, dual battery, HD King springs/Bilstein F4-BE5-A712-MO (front), Airbag Man extended airbags/OME Sport 150R shocks (rear), OziOffroad diff drop, BFG KM2s, Hella 225s, ARB CKMA12 compressor, Rhino-Rack HD bars x3/alloy tray, Sunseeker II awning, Prodigy, TX3340, cargo barrier, 50L water tank with 12v pump, rear storage system, Waeco 60L with slide, rear door table, rear camp light.

No, that was just luck. LC-150 was available, so I asked for it and got it. :-)

I was born there, we lived in Hattersheim. My parents migrated here in 1982, I was 15 years old. Haven`t been over there for 21 year, but still have Aunties and Uncles there.

This weekend was the "Buschtaxi-Treffen", Europe´s biggest Toyota GTG. Unluckily my ne wheels weren´t ready (they painted them in the wrong colour) so I had to give it with the stock tires a try. Very muddy but it worked ..

I also made a little video:

                      Hello from Australia!
Nice LC150, I only wish they offered that model in Australia - the one without the wheel on the back! Good to see you're getting some mud on that thing. I guess the photo is evidence that the mudflap issue occurs in the German model too. That is, notice the mud slicks on the front door and rear bumper. Speaking of which, I just noticed you you took off your sidesteps!

Re: Hello from germany (2010 150 manual)

I have made a little update to my rig. Bevore I invest in some offroad-accesoires, it was important to me to help the frame and body to get alive through the strong winter we have here in germany. Lot of salt on the streets

So I got the car for two days in a body shop and get the cruiser completly waxed on the underside, the doors, fenders etc. Also every hole in the frame was filled with a special mixture from wax and grease. Now the car is completly salt-save and I can go winter offroading without any worries about corrosion. Its a shame that Toyota is not doing this in their factory ...

                        Here are the pics:

                        Filled frame:

Wax covered underside of the body:

                        Hood and doors too:

Wow I am surprised that salt is still a problem on cars in Germany and that the cars are not designed to deal with it.
Do all cars need the grease/wax stuff applied to protect them from salt and get through winter?
My dad used to put bitumen paint on the underside of his cars.

Fortunately we don`t get salt on our roads here, but this might interest some that regularly drive on the beach.

Hard to say, some cars are protected, some not. Most People sell their cars bevore rust is getting a problem. Toyota is known for zero rust protection here. So its better to do something on your own, bevore you see some rust. Don't wait untill its to late. I have seen 4 year old yotas, completly red on the underside . Also, its a good idea for everyone, to protect his frame on the inside against corrosion.

                            Hope that helps,

                            Peter

I also installed a HD Rhino kit for my upcoming trip to the south of europe.

The plattform is missing on the pictures.
