Re: Hello from germany (2010 150 manual)

Another thing I wanted to show you, is the second battery by Toyota. Yes, thats right, the 150er have a factory installed second battery stock under the hood in germany. Its because of the colder weather and the need for more power when you do a cold start. Its just connected parallel with the other, so that itīs like having a bigger (more amps) battery with the same voltage.

    Hope that helps,

    Peter

Re: Hello from germany (2010 150 manual)

          Greasy,

Firstly with the salt on the roads do they have electronic rust protection available in Germany, if not have a look at http://www.couplertec.com.au/. I have used this product on my last couple of vehicles and have installed a four pad heavy duty system on on our 150 Prado. Some people don't believe in them but in my experience with my vehicle I consider them a reasonable insurance policy against rust.

Secondly can you post some pictures of the 2nd battery that is installed on the left side (as you look at the vehicle from the front). Is there a plastic tray situated beneath the battery and if you look on the battery mods on this site everyone has to move the air conditioning pipe towards the engine. Is there a different bracket that they have used on the European model.

Great to see some international Prado's on the site. Keep posting those mods.

          Thanks
          Paul

Nice LC150, I only wish they offered that model in Australia - the one without the wheel on the back! Good to see you're getting some mud on that thing. I guess the photo is evidence that the mudflap issue occurs in the German model too. That is, notice the mud slicks on the front door and rear bumper. Speaking of which, I just noticed you you took off your sidesteps!
Hi Will - Don't be so quick to wish for that because although I also prefere the tidier back - From the pictures I'd guess that for this they have sacrifised the second Petrol Tank so Fuel capacity would be half ą that of our Aus Models.

Hi Greasy - Nice Rig Mate - I love the idea of this wax\Greas Option simply awsome. Could you confirm your fuel capacity for us?

            Cheers

Hi Zero, I never liked having a wheel on the back. We've had a 90 series prado and currently own a rav4. It's just a pain to judge distances with and generally looks out of place - but I got used to it.

I can see why Toyota have decided not to release that model here though. 1. higher ground clearance to suit australias terrain (hence not bottom mounted spare - I guess the extra fuel capacity is a bonus) 2. popularity of drawer systems and conflict with the 3rd row seat. (hence not in the rear cabin area). So to get the best of both worlds, why not just stick the wheel on the back

I still wish they had that model here! We tried to get it imported from NZ as they have the RHD version, but the dealer couldn't arrange for that. We don't do epic journeys across Australia. The furthest I drive on a regular basis is from Victoria to Mildura, which is pretty much south to north victoria. The Aust model lc150 can do a return trip on a single tank whilst having plenty left afterward to drive around town (confirmed by a friend with an lc150). So halving the tank capacity to 75litres is perfect for me as there are plenty of petrol sations around; at least one in every town.

I guess the bigshots at Toyota reckon we need to cross the dessert to get from one town to another... or maybe they're starting to come to their senses since they've dropped the fuel capacity from 180lts (120series) to 150lts (150series). Hmm.

EDIT: Oh and might I add that, the reason I want that model is because of how the rear door opens. The split style doors like with the kluger and landcruiser. They are so much more convenient and practical than the overweight/sized door that needs like 1.5m to swing open

              Cheers

hi from warm brisbane! i've always wanted to fit rear fog lamps on my rig. i understand that rear fogs are standard in europe and i'm assuming yours is fitted with them. could i trouble you for a close up shot of the rear lights on the bumper bar? also, where is the switch installed? is it on the steering stalk or part of switch cluster below? vielen dank!

Hi pino, Having spent eight years in europe and having owned a number of European brand cars I can confirm for you the the rear fogs will\do share the same swich as the front ones so if you have the front ones on then the back ones will be on.

Thats why you see the odd car driving along with extra bright rear red lights on the freeway because they probably dont realise that when they have the front fog lights on it also blinds anyone driving behind them - VERY anoying.... Why is it that most Aussies feel that they have to permanently have their front fog lights on ???

Only car I have owned that hat front and rear fogs seperatley switched was my Jeep Wrangler JK.

Hi Peter and welcome. Like you I got the HD bars and Rhino rack on my 120. As you can see there are also some goodies bolted on it, Foxwing awning and hi lift jack and shovel holder. Next thing to go on top is a luggage bag, Rhino or similar. This was taken on Stockton Beach north of Newcastle, NSW. I also need to get some better rubber. What BFGs are you getting?

                      [SIZE=1]Cheers Jim.

                        Hi Williams,
The door opens side ways same as the australian models with the tyre on the door and is not a split tail gate like the landcruiser

                        Regards,

I failed to notice that! Thank you for correcting however! I do prefer the separate opening for the window as confirmed by our friend in Germany!

Re: Hello from germany (2010 150 manual)

Thanks for the info Gavin. I do see mostly late Hyundai's cruising around with their rear fog on and it is very annoying if left on with no reason at all. ie. inclement weather. Rear fog's do come to its own when's bucketing down and there's about two meters visibility. I checked the wiring at the rear of my vehicle and there seems to be some spare sockets that are unused from both sides. I have a hunch that this might be the ones connected to the rear fog units. Just figuring a way to get my hands on a pair and hook it up. My guess is that most wiring looms are pretty standard so hopefully, along with what you mentioned, it might just work.

HI Peter, thanks for the info. Just to double check, the first click turns on the front fog light and the second click turns the rear fogs on?

                                Cheers guys!
