    Hey all,

Well i have had the prado for a bit over two weeks now, i love driving it, still havent has a chance to go and play, but that should be changing very soon

Well it has begun, slowly at the moment but hoping that build will ramp up over the next couple of months for the planned cape trip next yr ..

    Current fit out:-

    Toyota Alloy bar
    Rubber floor mats
    Dashmat
    Towbar
    Side steps

Last night i was bored and decided it was no better time to fit the new lighgtforce 170's to the bar, they are a nice looking light, will just have to take them out tonight and do the final adjustments, I also added 4x security bolts, so that should also stop those little sods trying to take them

    Nice and bright

This weekend i will do the diff breathers and in the next few weeks i'm hoping to have the snorkle, new tyres and then a 2" lift fitted. Still not 100% sure on what suspension i will go for but i have been looking at the OME gear, but always open to susgestions.

    Cheers

Sounds like you have it all sorted mate! Glad you like your new rig.
Be careful though, this stuff gets addictive and expensive...

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your mods as they get done!!

    Good luck and enjoy!

        Re: Ghosts 95 Series Buildup

        Thanks guys,

Matt, mostly sorted ... Been spending a lot of time on PP and talking to different mates about good setups, I have a pretty big list of what i would want to do, but as we all know money doesn't grow on trees .. my missus just rolled her eyes when i decided it's was time... she knows when i do them it's usually going to mean i need another job to pay for it ....

        Adam,

Yea, am pretty happy with the girl, has some scratches when you look closer, but nothing thats really going to concern me, no doubt it will get plenty more  .. the wet up here is kicking in real fast, a bit nervous taking it into the sludgy stuff with the standard tyres, but my mate just got back from a work trip so at least i've got another 4by as a backup if i get myself bogged  Good to hear the OME gear is going well, i got quoted 1850 from ARB for:-

        2880 Light load front prings
        90004 Front shocks
2891 Medium duty rear springs 150 constant load
        60028 Rear shocks
        and some OME661 stone gards
        including wheel alignment
they said this should be giving me around 50mm of lift..

still tossing up about the fronts, I have only got the alloy bar on at the moment and no dual battery set up, probably will be a little while before i actually put on the extra weight

Love the look of your truck mate, can't wait to have mine fully set up

          Re: Ghosts 95 Series Buildup

Been plodding allong fitting some different things, I decided to extend the diff breathers, using Rouges idea (thanks Rouge) well motly anyway, but i decided to route the rear diff breather up into the engine bay,

I routed the breather hose up on the outside of the chasis rail which was also running another pipe. and then fixed both front and rear filters with zippy ties just behind the charcole canister,

I was looking around for a UHF, was going to buy the GME 3340 but had a ripper of a bargain come up, this guy had just fitted a GME TX3200 to his prado, didn't even wire it in, the next day he got rear ended and the prado was written off  , so i got his UHF and two antennas, AE4018K1 for $100  now i know these arn't the top of the range units, but will keep me going i'm sure.. Will fit these tonight

          Cheers

            Re: Ghosts 95 Series Buildup

Last night i got stuck into installing my "new" UHF.

the hardest part was deciding on where the UHF would sit, after a bit of fiddling around i decided that it was easiest placed next my left leg, due to me being vertically challanged i have no dramas with my leg hitting it  ..

I first fitted the GME antenna mount, tightened it up nicley and then fount that it fouled ever so slightly on the bonnet when it was being opened, so i moved it a couple of different times until i fount a sweet spot closer into the centre of the left hand side..

I ran the coax cable in through the front guard and behind the left hand headlight, up behind the battery, charcole canister and over the firewall through the gromet that i left open from the spottie install a couple of weeks ago. this was a bit of a round about way of doing it, i will see if it produces any interference, if it does i will move it at a later stage. i really only wanted to have one grommet cut...

From there i jumped into the drivers seat and began to fiddle around with taking the console off around the gearsticks and the radio surround pannel off.... the console around the gear stick was easy.. but the radio surround was fairly solidly fixed and at times i thought i was going to break the plastic while i was taking it off, with a little carressing it came off and i then was able to have access to the wires for the cigarette lighter..

From here i laid down on the drivers side floor and weived the coax cable behind the dash and down behind the centre console and poked it out just bellow where i was going to fit the UHF, I then mounted the bracket for the UHF with a few self tappers though the plastic and checked that it would not foul on any body work, i then went to work cutting and soldering the power and earth wires to the cigarette lighter wires, checked that power was still good, cut the coax cable and attached that to the radio and began re assembling the plastics,

I them mounted the handpiece on the two blanks just bellow the aux fuel tank..

i then resealed the cut grommet with some black auto silicone to fix any issues with duust, fumes etc...

All in all pretty happy with it, and another job done..

I used her as an excuse to buy it,
                  "look darling, its for you"
"No its not, its just another one of your toys you pour money into"
"No it isnt, its so you can have a nice reliable car"
"Well then why are you putting stuff on it i dont want on it?"
"So if we go driving one day and its during the wet season, we can get thru a puddle or a floodway"
"Fine, just do what you want!, i dont care!"

Ha ha ha, i did rego it in her name........ thats enough isnt it?
