  • My (Dean's) Black 06

    Hey guys and gals,

Thought I would post up some pics of my Prado

It's an 11/06 V6 Grande. Came with the Bull bar.

    Things I have done:
    Icom 440 plus arial
Replaced factory sat nav/radio with a new Sat nav/DVD/reverse camera/bluetooth
    Camera for reversing
4 DVD headrests to keep the kids occupied.

    Things I wanna do:
Get some really good sand mats
    Maybe a lift of 2inch
Set up racks so we can go camping

Has anyone seen a set of wheels like mine? They are exactly the same pattern as the stock alloys, but these are chrome...

    cheers
    dean
It's not a lie, if you believe it.

Oh ok, that makes sense. It's just that I have never seen another prado with these wheels. Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough 8)

Dean, they still r an aftermarket wheel hence why u haven't seen them, it is that they r called Grande by the wheel company, nothing to do with the car.

Nice looking. You say you have 4 DVD headrests? So the sitting in the rear seats you can watch as well? Got any pics? Do they all link together.

There is a pic in the first post of the headrest. Each headrest is a screen which is connected to the main headunit. Each headrest can also play its own DVD. You can see the DVD slot at the top of the headrest. Each headrest is also linked so that, for example, one movie is played on the front main deck. The headrest behind the front passenger seat is also watching that same movie. The seat behind the driver is watching their own DVD. Then the three very rear occupants are watching the same movie which is playing on both screens but playing from the one DVD.

All the kids also have headphones.

                          Thanks.

Head unit is JVC. All very seemless which is what I wanted. I really liked the old factory system, and the GPS system I particularly liked one of its features, but this new GPS system is very good too. The old system used to tell me to do U turns at lights which are illegal here in NSW, and then it sometimes would never replot the new course. I had to though buy the GPS addon, which is also what I had to do with the reverse camera. It also works very well with my mobile phone connecting via bluetooth. Most phones you can transfer your address book, but of course my phone isn't compatible. I suppose that's what happens when you buy a niche phone( Nokia N900). It also has very good Ipod control.

Don't anyone think for a second that just because you have a reversing camera that you will never back into something

I was distracted by the kids(which means it isn't my fault! LOL) and while backing out of a carpark I hit a light pole. Pushed the spare tyre right in and shattered the rear window. Never heard such a loud explosion before! Showered the kids with glass....

All this happened on 29th of last month. Took it to smash repairer the following monday 31st Jan. I go and see them today and get told I gotta wait til next Wednesday 16th!

The rear tailgate was needed replacing, plus the glass(obviously). Spare wheel cover was damaged(I didn't like having a grey cover so was going to paint it black anyways), and today I was told that the rear trim was damaged plus the wiper arm and motor.

Don't know if anyone else has done this sort of thing, but the repairer reckons it's pretty common. I said that 2 or so weeks before he had someone else have their Prado repaired who had done the same thing.

So I am really missing my Prado! In the end I am paying $600(my excess) to change the spare wheel cover from grey to black! LOL
