The white GX with std colour coded bullbar looks quite good. It does not look out of place unlike the 120 series.

            Nice rig mate.
Just grabbed a 150 GXL and was thinking about throwing up some lights up on the roof racks.
Is there an easy way to get the wiring up there ? Had a bit of look and can't really tell.

            Cheers

              gday
with the dash mat, what brand did you get?
also, is there anything under it to stop the scratching of the dash?
and did you use any adhesive tape?
              feedback appreciated.
              cheers

                hi,

sorry been away for a while.

ran the light wiring in the car to the rear qtr panel, then out through the rubber grommet behind the indicator/reverse lights. from there it runs up the side of the rear ''door well'' ' to where the gutter strips are. in the door well area its held in place with race tape which is white so you donnotice it. will try get some pics up tommorow.

got an original yota dash mat. just used 2 of the 3m hook/loop tape bits that came with it. have't noticed any scrtaching or anything. but the heat up here in the car when its parked in the sun is HOT and thats probable softened it up. in fact the mat was ok without the tape even, didn't slide around or fall down or anything. but i don't put anything on top of the mat.

                  Re: richards 150 build-up

Putting the lights on the rack? go for it. Makes a huge difference. Cos i'm using a short roof rack and the lights themselves are positioned above the rear passengers there's no wash on the bonnet and when i look out the drivers or passenger windows everything is lit up like daylight.

these pics should explain how i ran the cable better.ran the cable through the car (inside) to the back rear qtr, and then out the grommet. in the passenger side its behind this panel.

the it comes out at the top of the light and up the side of the door space.

once it reaches the roof it sits under the black plastic strip for a bit then onto the rack.

I ran the lights for the front on the passenger side (6mm2 for the four 55w hids) and on the drivers side 4mm cable for the reverse/work light. In hindsight i would've not bothered with the LED reverse lights, they might as well not be on when i look out the rear or side mirrors. I'm actually putting in a work light above the spare which will be a 35 hid work light. Its heaps brighter with a much better spread.

                    Thanks for the photo's.
The way you ran the cable was the pretty much the way I was thinking but wasn't sure how to secure it from the tail lights up to the rack. Tape doesn't look too bad .... and you can't see it when the door is closed anyway.

                    Cheers

                      G'day Richard
My new GX will arrive in about three weeks. Like you I didn't want the terrible rear seating arrangements in the GXL and the other GXL extras didn't fuss me much either. Basically I'm getting the same car only thousands cheaper. I have however bought a set of Speedy Grande 7.5in rims and put BFG's on them in preparation for the new cars arrival. These are based on the 120 rims and have a 30mm offset where the 150 series is 25mm offset. Are the rims you put on yours from a 120? If so did you have any clearance issues? There has been a fair amount of discussion on the forum about this subject and a lot of mis-information being thrown about by people who really have no idea what they're talking about. The WA Speedy rep has assured me they will be OK but when I saw your build-up I thought I'd ask the question anyway. Cheers.

Hi , Rims i think are prado rims for the 120. No problems with clearance. There is just enough clearance (about a fingers width) between the tyre sidewall and upper control arm. This is exactly the same amount of clearance my mate had with his standard rims on his 120 running the same size tyres- 265/70r17's. He ran MTZs.
will post up pics when theres some lights for photos.

Also made a rear light bracket today. got some spacers for the spare wheel from a friend (about 15mm thick) so when my spare tyre arrives it will actually fit without hitting the door. Was going to get a kaymar spacer, but with thye free spacer and homemade light bracket costing a total of 0$, well the decision not to was pretty easy. light bracket is made from 50mmx6mm flat bar and bolts onto the top of the wheel bracket (not the new spacer). mounted the hid worklight on top about 8cm above the wheel.

Chip from chipit is on the way! 3 days to go! was originally going to get a stienbauer. But the chipit is heaps heaps cheaper (only a bit more than 1/2 the price), but more importantly when i get down to perth next month i'll get them to install the EGT module that defaults to the standard tune when the EGTs get too hot. So far all the other chips rely on either the ecu picking up a problem (by which time its 2 late already) or installing a EGT gauge and keeping an eye on it. Hopefully the module will mean i can put the foot down and only have to worry about keeping it pointed in the right direction and not keep looking at some gauge.

                            will post up pics soon.
