  • What editing software are you using?

So I guess once you choose the camera the next step is what do you use for the editing.
I have used adobe Lightroom and found it suits my needs. What is everyone else using?

Adobe camera RAW, then into Photoshop CS5.
I only shoot RAW, or CR2 on my cameras, yes the image file size is bigger, but there is more data to play with..

Fwiw, I run Mac computers, my iMac is now m main editing machine, all 27" on screen awesomeness.

I am still using cs3 for main editing. But for cropping and batch resizing etc I use iview. Simple but fast and effective.

I use Gimp. It has 90% of the features available that photo shop does. There are also loads of plugins available. Best part is, its free! Yep! Open Source folks. Well worth a try......

Lightroom and Photoshop Elements (I used to use the full Photoshop but can't justify the cost anymore)

I use Lightroom and just recently upgraded to LR4. I haven't really had a good play with it yet but it does seem easier and faster to use.

Cool. Sounds like time for me to upgrade. I avoided upgrade to LR3 as it didn't seem to add much over LR2.x but the cost is less than a tank of fuel so off to the Adobe shop

My wife studied multimedia, so have had access to PS4 and PS5 and lightroom 3.
But have used the free canon DPP extensively, its easy to use and the latest version does unsharp mask.
I am basically lazy and cannot be bothered with post processing and will use jpg if I can get away with it.

Only now starting to use Lightroom 4 more and more, I am actually surprised with the results. Whatever they are doing is working well, its faster and my 4 year old desktop has no trouble making changes speed wise. Noise reduction, sharpening seems better.
I an ideal world I should go back to some of my earlier photos and re-edit them, just don`t have the time or inclination to do so.

                    Same system here...
I recently trialed Aperture but it fell well short of the quality and functionality of Bridge/ACR.

I know what yo mean, I do use Aperture, but only for uploading to web... No processing gets done there.

I did use DPP, and it works ok for total image editing and adjustments, but when you want to start playing with layers and layer masks...... That is when CS5 comes into play, I got tired of running many pieces of software to do the job, so cut out those that did not do what I needed, I even used LR for a while to library my images, but found Bridge does it too....

If you feel like playing with the full version but don't want to pay for it... you can trial Photoshop CS6 for free while it's in the BETA version. Download either platform here if you want a play.
                        http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/photoshopcs6.html

Haven't had much of a play but looks like there are a few nice features.
I still can't get the content aware stuff to perform properly on any of my rear world needs
                        Cheers, Leon

                              LR3, now LR4.

Hardly ever touch PS anymore, rarely need it since the basics of photo editing got added into Lightroom.
