Thanks for the comments, guys. He takes it very seriously. He's practiced for hours. His car was the Patrol at the rear of the procession. He was flying it from the passenger seat.

I will pass your comments on to him - Cheers.

          Hi Corigator,
Those vids from your boy are awesome. Really like the beach run. The shots look just as good as you would see on the tv or some 4WD dvd's etc. Nice work.

Really nice videos guys. I have had a major crash with my Hexa last weekend and the rebuilding has started. I think I had an issue with the FPV sender interacting with the flight control and the Hexa decided to do what ever it wanted and hit the fence at my friends farm.

Ill post a video when I get a free few minutes. Also I am heading to Brisbane in a weeks time to do my UAV remote aircraft licence (CASA approved). Going to be fun but an intense course.

Is the the RPAS Level 1? I got mine last year as I fly UAVs for work for aerial mapping. Glad you are getting licensed because there are so many nut bags out there with quad copters flying in restricted airspace, too close to airports and airfields, over populous areas and at too higher altitude and too close to people not associated with the flight.

                      Then the insurance...

I bet no one realised that Fraser island's air space is restricted from 5000ft up, sometimes it can be from the SFC-5000ft you have to check the NOTAM before launching a UAV or ANY aerial equipment. And no one is allowed in restricted areas unless with area approval from CASA. I presume there was no Airband VHF licensed radio operator either, which means you wouldn't here a low flying helicopter on route to several airfields on the island, and beleive me they fly under 400ft!

Glad to see no incidents but most 'hobby' UAV operators don't have a clue what they are doing and the potential for danger.

I saw on the news the other night that CASA are looking into multirotors as the main concern is the numbers that are flying around (with a few clueless pilots amongst them!) and concern over invasion of privacy.

                          Symo,

Yes he is very aware of the rules for hobby flying and keeps up with the latest rule changes.

His flight was well below 5,000 ft and well away from landing zones - well under 400 actually We had several of us looking out for other aircraft. He always uses a spotter.

I'm sure he does, but just be aware CASA doesn't care what you think is right, if there is a breach. Your done.

You are correct Symo. I am heading off to do my Remote Aircraft Licence with CASA over the next 2 weeks (12 day course) that will allow me to fly my UAV for commercial and private use. The course is near you Symo in Brisbane. I am flying up on Sunday. Great pics Corigator and very impressive flying. I have been flying for quite a while and very aware of all the CASA requirements. CASA knows about my Hexa and the work that I do with it. All research based and testing different equipment and applications. The accident I had with mine was very low level flying 2 meters off the ground testing a new video system. Getting repaired the moment. I am moving the research into the commercial world so making sure that all the registrations and licencing is completed for it.

It is a great hobby also.
