  • LCOOL 120 Prado on 44s

Found an interesting post over on LCOOL about a fella in Iceland fitting up big 44s onto 120's. The first setp is to install a reall 4" lift and then move front and rear axels. Then they chop into the fenders to fit the bigger wheels.

Not that I'm after it at all but I wonder how easy/diificult it would be to get that engineered over here and signed off for newer plates.

like anything if you want to throw enough money at it you can do it . but what would be its load rating on the road in aus . my mate had a daihatsu feroza with a 4 in lift and bigger tyres , only problem , it was illegal to drive with both me and him in the car. at 220kgs we were over its allowable limits .
03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

This is the work performed by arctic trucks in Iceland. There is a couple of threads here on them already with some great images and info.

I would suggest there would be bugger all chance of having anything legalized in Australia due to kour more stringent ADR laws. It's a huge transformation and holds an equivalent price tag as well.
A couple of the members here have arctic truck conversions already, one has two from memory and a fleet of various war era 4x4,s.

Brook, I don't think it is Artic Trucks. I believe the company is called Fjallasport and the website is http://www.fjallasport.is/index.php. Arctix Trucks can be found elsewhere. I would imagine there are other companies doing similar work as well. Also Actic Trucks, from memory ONLY work on Toyotas. This company seems to be not so particular and will do work on Nissans, Fords, Mazdas, etc...

As I mentioned in my first post I'm not looking at getting one as it's not my scene. I suspect the work they have done will have increased the weight capacity of the vehicle as there is some reasonably serious looking reinforcing going in. I guessed that it would never ever get through but also why the hell would you for our conditions. More out of curiousity. I've seen a number of vehicles running pretty large tyres but only probably 35s. Had a friend with one and a 6" lift in a 100 series. He finally, aftre about 5 years, had a run in with a cop who defected him. All the others who pulled him over just wanted to have a look as they thought it was pretty cool.

Could be using the arctic trucks kits, they send them to certain resellers / installers. I looked at having some imported a while ago to play with. Cost is prohibitive though. An arctic trucks conversion cane be an extra $ 40000 on top of the car price!!!
