  • Can you swap Torch bulb over to a LED setup ???

    HI,
i have a half decent torch i keep in the back of the car which is pretty old, its covered in rubber so is pretty good for the car, but i wondered if it was possible to be able to swap out the old bulb and convert it to a LED setup?

    any ideas?

    cheers,
    Smac

Yes it is possible BUT that dosn't mean the reflector will be suitable or the position of the LED cluster will be in the correct postion to obtain the correct focus of the existing parabolic reflector.

As already said, it's the reflector that's important, not the LED. LED's themselves don't really give out that much light in a torch or driving/work light application, the magic's all in the reflectors quality and magnified lenses. IMO they are way over-priced for technology and performance, but they will get cheaper as many manufactures flood the market. If you really want a good LED torch, just go and buy one, but be prepared to pay the price.
