  • EBAY knobs, stealing our Prado pics

some cock has a listing on Ebay for an ARB steel bull bar for a Prado. (no, not me)

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0636684020

i don't care about what he's selling, but have a look at the pic(s) he's using.

i wouldn't really care if he asked for permission 1st.

plus, how about he advertises my farken Prado all over the country too. or at least scrub my plates out.

just my whinge for the week.

i have seen pics of other members' Prado's on eBay too, and i doubt that they have asked permission to use the pics. on the other hand, the pics are posted on a public forum, but i still reckon its BS.

It raises a good question though - are you able to view pics if you are not a member of PP?

I know on myswag that if you weren't a member then no pics...

Yeah Ditto, In a nut shell; in Australia images have automatic copyright to the original photographer (as long as there not taken as part of employment, a contract or have already been sold on)

(just did a quick read on the relevant government website)

It may sound harsh but its the internet - if you don't want your plates public, scrub them off your image before you upload it.

Have a look at google image search for 'prado arb bar' and most of the images are from pradopoint, and many show readable numberplates.

of course that has assumed you haven't uploaded them to a site where you loose the ownership/IP rights of the photo to the site owner.

Another reason why I only load to my own web hosting... no fine print that I haven't made myself not read :?
Hopefully eBay should do the right thing based on copyright.

Yeh mine was up there once too, without permission. Contacted the seller and he ended up sending me a free cargo net.

I would have been happy to for nothing had he asked in the first place.

I think this is what most people would say... a little bit of courtesy.
