  • New car ideas

    I'm in a bind.

The Mrs has just sold her car (Ford Focus) and is eyeing off the Prado.

I'm not as keen as she is to let her take it over...as I really love driving it.

So far I've been able to persuade her to drive the BMW M3 but I get the impression she's still keener on the Prado.

I've resigned myself that I need to get a new rig but I'm not overly impressed with the new Prado.

    What do fellow PP's think?

I've been considering a new 200 series, an FJ cruiser or a Range Rover Sport / Disco 4 but aren't 'blown away' by any of them.

The new rig will need to be a capable 4wd and the Prado won't be leaving the family for a few years yet. It's only just gone 2 yeas old.

    I'm keen for your input.

Thats a fairly decent price range for vehicles you are considering there... Any reason you can't just pinch the Prado back as your 'capable' 4WD? That would certainly open up your options...

No chance, I'll respray it any colour she wants

But in all honesty, I don't think I could go past the 4.5TTD V8 personally, so it's 200 Series all the way for me.
Plus, it still has the magical badge on the front which is worth it's weight in gold as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck with your decision Bankrupt.

                      Cheers,

Well the 200 has it at the moment, my only concern is that it will be too big. There's been plenty of times the Prado has pulled through in a tight spot.

Anyway with stocks 6 months away I guess there's plenty of time to get use to it.

                        Will keep thinking.

150 all the way for me.
200 series - toooo big for day to day stuff around town.
FJ cruiser - doesn't come with the D4D or a second fuel tank
Range Rover Sport / Disco 4 - $1500 per service, no thanks.

Not sure what you don't like about the 150 as the only things I didn't like are now off the car.

I did have - 2010 GXL D4D Auto, ARB bullbar, rails, sliders, winch, 40mm lift, Brown Davis bash plates and long range tank

I'm taking the Kakadu off my wife (she finds it too big) and am buying her a jeep grand ltd Hemi in silver with big wheels she wants some bling. She wants a rangie Sport I love them but there is no way I'm prepared to own one. If she's not happy driving the jeep on the test drive she will get a new Kluger grande which is what we had before the prado and it was a GREAT car.

                            Good luck either way.
