I just want to know one thing, why does our PM claim to be trying to save the world while her party is climbing over itself to sell off this country to foreign investors, all so they can send the dirty fuel back to their countries and generating even more pollution. Sound hypocritical to me. If we are serious about saving the world, lets leave the coal in the ground!! She's gone!

Hi Folks
Interestingly enough, talking to a senior manager in a coal company some time ago he mentioned that there is "Clean Technology" to burn coal, but it wouldn't be brought into play until the multinationals had to or there was a financial benefit for them to do so, looks like now is the time, keep your eyes out for "outstanding new tecnology" in the next few years.

And if the carbon crap wasn't enough , i just got the email from head office letting me know how much i will be paying for the "Flood Levy" next year. It was a terrible disaster and no offence intended to our QLD brothers but this country is getting bloody ridiculous ! Lets pray for our sakes we dont have another disaster in the next 12 months or the flood levy will be here to stay along with the 10-20% rise in the cost of living this carbon shit is going to end up costing us.2011 GXL D4D Auto | ARB Deluxe winch bar | Bilstein/Ridepro platinum lift | MT ATZ P3's | Dick Cepek Torque rims | Airtec snorkel | Lightforce Genesis 55w HID | GME UHF | 55w HID high beam | Rhino Rack bars & Cage | ISI extreme rack | Dual Optima Batteries | Milford MXV-70 cargo barrier | ARB onboard air | Prodigy P3 | Drawers & Black widow fridge slide | Waeco CF-50 | Kaymar rear bracket and LED light | EscapeGear seat covers | Sandgrabbas and more...

The One thing that i don't see is how charging for pollution is going to stop anything, the price of fuel went up but we all still buy it, and then were will the money go???
they say that primary producers will be Exempt for 5 years, and there was talk that we would have to pay for our cows farts, if so does Julia have to pay to talk?
I agree with Pradoz, on the whole young people thing, I am 18 and only enrolled to vote cause of this,

If so, who will pay this tax & will it be retrospective....omg will I be liable for the tax...I'm shuddering at the thought
Jeepers does our fearless leader have a diamond ring? Or may be getting one soon
Will she have to pay the Diamond Tax too or is she exempt
Your Diamond should give you a credit (in theory), although it happened before the intro of the tax only just by a few million years). The whole carbon thing is to put the nasty carbons back into the ground and not into the air. Nature effectively does this but slowly. Your diamond is the unequivocal evidence of her (nature's) success. The fundamental problem is we apprantly put the carbon into the air too fast and mother nature is "bitchin and moanin" so Juuuulia, who obviously goes to the same hairdresser and liposuction quack has been listening and here we are, paying another tax/levy/pricing scheme. I wonder if I can claim a carbon credit for the new chip and 3 inch exhaust? Both give fuel efficiency and help me sleep easier at night knowing I have done the right thing for Australia and the future. The credit should be calculated at $23 per tonne for each tonne of carbon I don't pump into the air. I am prepared to gaffa tape SWMBO so she doesn't talk so much and therefore uses less energy so eats less cows which will cause less cow farts and therefore less carbon.
I expect with these efforts alone I will reverse global warming!Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

I remember Sarich's orbital engine. I expect the patent is owned by the multi national fuel companies, the same ones that own the water based engines that have been invented (yes, there are engine designs that run on water as a fuel and pollute the atmosphere with ta disgusting biproduct called oxygen, ewwwwww.Originally posted by Richoson View PostHi Folks

what I really can't understand is how this carbon price (TAX) will do anyting at all. Look at it this way, the government decided to charge the top 500 polluters a price (tax) for Carbon, most if not all of those have already indicated that they will pass that full price onto consumers.
So someone tell me how this is going to push these 500 biggest polluters to change their ways when they are not going to be out of pocket at all as we as the consumers are going to be footing the bill?
Is it me or does this whole thing make no sense.
PS I think my missus reckons I'll be in that top 500 list with you MLC

From Wikipedia: Carbon ( /ˈkɑrbən/) is the chemical element with symbol C. The name "carbon" comes from Latin carbo, coal.Originally posted by blackvx View PostLook at it this way, the government decided to charge the top 500 polluters a price (tax) for Carbon
So basically this is a Coal Tax with two purposes: (1) To dissuade the use of coal as a form of energy in Australia and (2) to help Government build revenue through a new tax.ntp

Congratulations, you just passed economics 101. The facts are no matter what goodie two shoes do, whether its geeting banks to disclose consumer credit issues better, getting lawyers and insolvency experts to disclose the basis on how they charge fees, or having business pay for the polluting ways, it all boils down to the same thing. WE PAY FOR IT. All charges, costs, imposts etc on business find there way to the consumer. In most cases taxes (or tax equivilents including levies, pricing rules,) flow to the governement. So how will the governemnt use the funds to clean up the mess and keep polution down? KNuck Fows!!! and the government says the system will force the top 500 to produce with less pollution.... Pigs arse, where is their incentive to save us from paying. You guessed it, there isn't!!
I nominate Richoson for Prime Minister (I know he comes from Joe Bjelke peterson (spelling) country, but don't you worry about that). His profile pic displays the attitude needed for a new prime Minister that will put an end to this crud and he will open up all national forests for 4wding. AJ120 can be his 2IC. He is a visionary and action man that will see all motor vehicles equipped with low cost rock sliders. Given my obvious skills in talkin reel good, I will do all press statements and policy dokuments. There we have the start of the 4WDing First party.
Policy 1: All non 4wd vehicles will pay a nuisence tax for being on the road. The closer the vehicle is to the tar, the higher the tax. We will call it the Too close to carbon and Tar tax.
Policy 2: An annual levy will apply against all vehicles deemed unsafe for not having a bull bar and spotties. We will call it the Your a danger to yourself levy.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

The problem is that people didn't want to vote Labor in the last Federal election, so they voted Green, which is the same as voting Labor anyway. In the NSW state election, this valuable lesson was learnt and NSW turfed out both Labor and the Greens. Bring on the next election and let's turf out Juuuuules and backdoor Bob.
