Bunch of cowboys, these are the type of people that rip up the tracks just for their own ego. Atleast, he got what was deserved.

thats a bit harsh crooza. some people 4 wheel drive to reach a destination, others 4 wheel drive for the thrill of a challenging track. rain erosion will do far more damage and change the terrain in the long term then any vehicle could possibly imagine.

in saying that if you drive stupid tracks you have to be prepared to cop the damage when it goes pear shaped. I am, in NO WAY involved or affiliated with the people or group involved in those photos and video. but I do enjoy having a play on a challenging track and I have had my fair share of battle scars (or 'tough stickers' as we like to call them). I have never driven those tracks but I have seen and walked both of them and, well.... no thanks (a bit too insane for my liking).
for the record the videos are of the widowmaker but the photos and the rollover are on 'big red'.

And I don't take the prado out on that sort of stuff, for that I have a suzuki sierra LWB.

              Nice!
I thought widow maker was just another name for big red? Of course I've never been there though...

Well done on the search to find those amazing pics and videos. I've looked on Youtube extensively for stuff on Big Red @ Glasshouse but didn't find any of that quality. I've got a mate I work with who's got a GU Patrol ute, 7 inch lift, 37 inch tyres, twin lockers, winch, and has spent 30 grand on the motor alone. It's a rebuilt from scratch 6 cyl turbo diesel that pumps out 380 horsepower at the wheels (he also races it in 4wd comps). He took it up the powerline track to Big Red a year ago he was telling me and snapped off his rear tail lights,, bent his panhard rod and a control arm (just like the guy in the previous pics) destroyed one of his inner guards and also put the car over onto its side which dented all panels on one side and broke his mirror. They managed to roll it back over and he kept driving it for the rest of the day. Him and his mate repaired the car themselves a few weeks later. This guy is 26 yrs old and used to own his own business which he managed and also worked in doing labouring work, which made him a few million $$$ within 5 or 6 years. He sold it and now works where I work in the same industry on $50,000 a year because he got sick of the stress, long hours and having work on his mind 24/7. So when he busted his Patrol he wasn't too phased. He treated the whole thing like it was humurous and moved on. He owns 5 other cars as well one of which is an old Ford GT worth $100,000 that he won't drive unless it's all clear blue skies as he doesn't want to get it wet. Qld Transport have pulled him up on his Patrol questioning its 7 inch lift 3 times this year alone. He kept re-assuring them it was only 2 inches and had them 2nd guessing themselves by the end. I'm surprised he gets away with it. This car is a pure machine when you look at it. He's spending $2,800 on it next week to tweak an extra 40 horse power out of it. He did tell me what he was having done but it went in one ear and out the other as he lost me with technical details. I pretended at the time I knew what he was talking about though haha. He drives it into work on Fridays and when leaving in the afternoon each week he chirps the massive rear wheels effortlessly a few times as he creeps toward the road.
2005 120 series V6 Grande, 2 inch susp lift (King/EFS combo), 32 inch MT’s, Safari Snorkel, rear diff lock, breathers, Light Force spotlights, UHF, dual batteries.

Hello guys its Shano here the owner of the purplebus in the pics and vids. this was bought to my attention by a mate of mine. For starters the original bus was a comp car and was driven as such. dont presume that I rip up/destroy tracks for my ego. I dont presume that prado drivers are all 90km/hr caravan tow cars. both these tracks are 90% rock and the rest is erosion from the elements. the big roll of the rock was in a competition and was to be expected, we had the winch cable on the pass floor so i could throw it out the window safely to my dad if we went over. by the way i am 40 and he is 65, he still loves it. the 2nd bus i was given for free and dropped my v8 and other bits into it so not really fussed as it owes me time not big $$$. I definately dont rip up tracks and absolutely hate mud so stay well away from the g/house in the wet. I actually live in g/house so preserve as much as possible and frown on those who go wheeling in the wet/slop. I hope this puts a few minds at ease and i hope to bump into a few of you guys out there and always say g'day if you see me.
                  Ta Shano....

But we are, you get better fuel economy @ 90km and you don't have to worry about ever catching up to anyone! :-D

Looks good Purplebus, expensive but good fun!

                      Hey Shano,
Ignore crooza, he means well, but I hear he drives around using idle RPM's :P

Hopefully I'll see Big Red one day. Probably won't take my rig up it though, don't want to show how easy it is with a Toyota haha.

Anyway, you might like my recent videos of Mt Walker, see my youtube channel below.
