Nothing wrong with the 2.7, great motor, pull well, and yes more economical then either of the V6's 3.4 or the 4L. Just dont put on gas, the head on a 2.7 does not like it and you will be replacing valve stem seal that quickly it wont be funny even with a lube kit fitted. Great thing about the 2.7 is they are known to do high klms and can be gotton from any wreckers if need be due them been so popular.(same as the hilux and hiace vans running around).......... When I had my 95 series 97 model V6 3.4 grande I couldnt keep up with a 2.7 pulling up mooney mooney here in Sydney, may have been gearing possibly (mine auto) but I was flat knackers, kept flicking back from drive to second and so on, he just kept on pulling away. Maybe he was supercharged ?? Ill stick with that thought lol Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

Interesting that the really high, high mileage cars on last page are almost all petrol!!! Go the V6 power and reliability and added extra super smooth as well.
