  • The other ride.....

Not quite as sweet a ride as mjrandoms new ride and a few others but it does me (When I get the keys off the missus)... She uses it as a shopping trolley during the week but I get to blow the cobwebs out on the weekends when not towing the van with the prado.

I am really enjoying the car. Is it worth the entry price? 90% of the time probably not, however that last 10% is wonderful.
That is awesome! Saw the one they pegged against a Supercar at bathurst and holy crap was it fast!

One question though, whats with the different plates front and rear? Wait.... I know, you have 2! You lucky buggar lol !

      • I don't believe in showing number plates but wanted to show someone else on another forum how the slimline front fitted. When I blacked out the numbers it um blacked out everything so I was a bit creative in PS and then I couldn't help myself but do a different combination at the rear. I actually made up four different combinations.

Driving into work yesterday and Monday and taking note of all the cars and things around me that were the same price of entry as the GTS or a bit more. I thought about it for a while and decided I really prefer to be in this than the Rangies or E class etc etc that were in the traffic with me. The GTS as I have it is understated and almost has enough power. A tune and airbox will get it over the 600 bhp which might be enough.

It's not the GT4x4 Turbo so must have been a hair-dressers car.

                          • Firstly, I apologize if anyone took offence at the hair dresser remark but any car that sports the looks but fails to deliver on performance is rightly branded.

As I said it's not the GT four wheel drive twin turbo that they built in the early 90's. The only other decent Celica was the twin cam of the late 70s. The 6th generation (pictured) had a 1.8 or the 2.2 Camry engine and a whopping 135hp compared to the GT4 at 250hp. The 7th generation finished production in 2006 following a drop in performance and a correlated drop in sales in Australia. It's taken Toyota until the release of the 86 coupe to get back into the sports car market, except of course for the Supra models which saw a similar fate as that of the Celica.

You've seen the current toy in the shed before - the Cobra. I didn't buy this car, I built it. I'm not trade qualified but self taught. Paint, electrics, mechanicals, all me.

Here is a couple of shots of another project that got out of control...

This was my ride till a few months after I got Prado. Wanted to keep it, but can't justify keeping two cars especially for one person.
Photo was taken not long after I bought the car. Wasn't that shiny by the time that it was sold though
