  • Wheel Winch

Has anyone ever seen one of these in real life? Interesting concept.

The website shown no longer fires up so I guess they've both gine the way of the dinosaur. If he'd said "great product" one more time I was gonna puke.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Thats funny... Years ago I got bogged and I was out of phone and radio reception down back of our property and didn't want to walk the huge distance back to the house through the mud.

I made a similar setup with my atrocious welding skills using a genset and arc welder on the back of my ute to weld star droppers to the steel wheel and some lengths of drag chain to pull me out.

It worked but it was far from great. I can't see that being much better.

I just wonder what sort of out-of-balance stress it would put on the drive train, having one wheel under tension so to speak.

Whale Oil Beef Hooked, they still exist!

Has anyone on the forum used one in anger, or seen one in use? The website vehicle guide only shows prado compatability up to 2006, maybe hasn't been update din a while.

I haven't used this particular product but my Dad had a simular setup on the old IIa landrover when I was a kid, I seem to remember it coming with the Landy when he brought it so I'm not sure if it was a DIY job or what but we farmed a pretty boggy area so when it started to rain they stayed permenately on the Landy and got used a fair bit, he also had a PTO capstan winch on it but that only seemed to be used in the summer

This brings back memories years ago when we had power outages in Sydney . A garage near my place had used an old Holden with an extended axle to drive his petrol pump during power outages . Don't know how he'd get on these days with computerised tills etc ?

              Cheers
