    My two cents.

I bet the buils quality is crap though!
You got it in one, they alao make 4 runner knock offs amongst others, as you said though the build quality would be absolute rubbish.

I found some more links on an overseas site, and then did a search on PPoint, to avoid the wrath of one Team Piggy, and found this thread.
(TP, it may be starting to sink in)

I notice the previous comments in this thread are quite dismissive of Chinese cars. Many of these are being sold in Russia etc, where the quality may not be demanded, but are currently selling in a market where they can refine their product.
Given a chance, China will make anything to required standard, and at right price. Next time you pass a big new BOOM Crane, look a bit closer, and you might find some stickers that arent written in English.

A bloke I know was recently buying two big buses, the Denning/Greyhound type Coaches.

      His options were
      (a) 2 x Coaches made in Sydney = $400k each (Pick up price) (He bought these)
      (b) 2 x Chinese copys, delivered on the wharf in Fremantle $250k each
Watch what happens if Free Trade Agreement with China expands....

      Anyway, some links

I have run some thru bablefish to convert to English

This link, you can scroll thru a series of Chinese rip offs. Some are so extreme you can interchange parts such as panels etc.

I'll wager that the Chinese knock offs are a death trap when it comes to passenger protection in the event of a collision. I'm sure that the copy process doesn't include copying safety standards to meet any NCAP star ratings...

            Hi guys,
I had a busload of chinese tourists checking out my truck at a local tourist spot yesterday, they were pushing the panels checking underneath, I lifted the bonnet and they were very inquisitive as to the engine type and my dual battery setup, a couple of them spoke good english and told me that they also made a Prado type 4wd of good quality I didn't comment!
When I started it, one bloke covered his ears indicating he didn't like the noise (small rattle) I gave a nervous laugh and drove off.

              Hay Mates

I saw the Dady Shuttle UTE at Dubai' Auto Show last year and surfed the net and posted it on PP

The funniest thing ever is a sticker at the driver's Door stating that the driver shall tighten the Wheels Every 400KM

Dad mentioned that Early 4x4's used to be like this almost 30+ Yrs ago

I think it will fall apart at the first Dune bashing trip

                Re: Cheap Chinese Prado knockoffs

Well.... the write up says it all... (Google Translation)

"As the Chinese put this vehicle, Dadi Shuttle recognizable. TLC Prado ?????????? ?????????. In this case, clearly visible exterior TLC Prado last generation. In any case, full face. Chief marketing course sellers Dadi - delivery vehicles only in the maximum configuration. That is, with two climate-control, leather interior, wood trim, full ??????????????, television, connected to the rear-view camera, audio system with the function of reading MP3 ... Over all this splendor will request $ 23 900. Will be - because it has them in Russia just two. One, we felt, was the second certification. Both vehicles originally intended for the domestic Chinese market, as the first batch of machines, specially selected for sale in Russia, expected in about a month. According to the president of the company «Intereksport» Igor Egorov, they will be slightly different. already has experience Dadi SUVs supplies to Ukraine, and Egorov claims that the Chinese can achieve a decent quality.

To start - an external inspection. Well, not perfectly, but is quite acceptable: the gaps between body panels straight, good quality paint, chrome on the «face» intact. Salon - peach. And shades, and material inserts - alleged that they have a peach tree (although the sellers just do not know). Felt, that there is a claim to something... Perhaps, in the luxury ... To be honest, in the marketplace Shuttle Salon would like to be black. And electric seats fitted with them - yet it is not.But for the first time in a Chinese car, I was able to push the driver's seat far enough to sit comfortably. Landing a driver, incidentally, to the SUV is quite low. Tilt steering column is modified, but not too much. However, all these impressions, we were then, and brought the car to start, prostoyavshy on the street for several days with overnight temperatures of -30 °, day -25 °. And what do you think? Engine revived almost immediately, turn the starter only a few seconds. Beast-machine, we are glad. Start of the frost, two stoves with separate management. News. But exactly what it lacks is a heated seat. Cold such smooth seat of cheap leather. However, quite comfortable. Do not be prevented and such trifles as audible reminder when the light is turned off the ignition.

Of the pros salon, in addition to an acceptable ergonomic driver's seat, one can not help but mention the comfort for passengers. Even when relegated front seats leg room for rear.

definitely off. Another good point - the staffing set forth under the driver's seat, fire extinguisher. Laugh, laugh, who burned - he knows that the fire extinguisher is required, but when carried in the trunk, it is useless, and in the cabin without fasteners terribly hampered. And even in the Shuttle found a set of tools: carob keys balonnik, candle key remover for oil filter, which is tricky with a screwdriver zhalom curves. As it is written on the site distributor, «DADI cars differ a simple and reliable construction. Maintaining DADI vehicles can themselves literally in the field.Apparently, in order, and tool ...

Mitsubishi Engine capacity 2.4 liters and 130 liters capacity. ?. with nothing new presented. This is indeed a Mitsubishi, though, and China. Alas, for the medium SUV is the heart hilovato. However, at current prices for gasoline, many prefer to profitability trends, and eats a little engine. According to our measurement approximately 13-14 liters per 100 kilometers, and it is in the city. Another point is that at busy Moscow had to drive the engine to twist, is actively working dlinnohodnym lever CPR. And more fun than it delivers, because the transfer is included without special accuracy - about both the «Volga». And measured motion everything is fine. On the trail Shuttle is capable of not straining the driver to go at speeds of 110-120 km / h. Acceleration up to hundreds? According to official data - In reality - much more. But we are clearly not the case when it is really important. For all parameters, Dadi Shuttle - a family car, slowly. Settings steering control and suspension resolved in favor of comfort. Accordingly, the lightest steering wheel, but not too informative, but a smooth course, but there is a tendency to vertical raskachke body. In general, the ideology of the car is clear. More surprising: in spite of the softness, suspension amazing energy intensity. With active driving under tussock and Bugra its no punches! Ahead of the Shuttle on the torsion bar independent suspension, rear continuous bridge springs. It springs from the pages thick and broad, solid, and ladders monumental. Actually look at the car below and see: the unit is solid. Everything looks pretty thoroughly. Leverage solid, crankcase engine covered protection, front axle differential casing - as well. Incidentally, the last hanging in the same low, as if the bridge was continuous, and it went two thick swinging half. Protected and the fuel tank. In short, the car is clearly intended to be used for off-road. Well, then go to it and the road.

Full gear included a Shuttle arm. The front axle can be connected on the go, move on downshifts - stopped moving CPR in neutral. By the way, stupichnye clutch on our car were tame, but the sale will go off Dadi already automated. At ponizhayke car lazaet on Bugra and ditch quite vigorously. However, in our case was limited to cross-summer tires Kumho, but still very good results. Steep slopes - no questions.Rubezh diagonal display - within reasonable limits. Of course, the front suspension moves are small, but fairly decent at the back. In general, do not parketnik unambiguously. But not uncompromising cross-country vehicle - the engine did not have enough thrust to secure movement on deep snow and the ground clearance is less than desired. But for domestic off-road cross Shuttle enough. Reaching up to testify on proselku, get on mushroom-berries, otehav from the road into the forest, not to mention about that in the winter with honor to leave the parking lot, which filled out with careless greyderistom - all of which may Shuttle. In addition, worth noting that the rigidity of the body and frame at the top. Posted on the machine without any problems open and close all doors, including the fifth. The general feeling - not a bad version of a family car universal destination. Provided that the driving is not the racer, and the person calm. Of the competitor's - the same Great Wall, but for convenience Shuttle driver ahead of him. It can be seen as an alternative and UAZ Patriot. Both are, and yet a third lottery ...

"BEAST MACHINE - WE ARE GLAD"

Well, time to go shopping.... Goodbye VX Prado.... Heeeelllllloooooo Dadi Shuttle!!!!!!............ NOT!

Makes you wonder if Toyota did have something to do with this? And if so, Im not overly sure if i'm happy to see cheap copies of my car around, even if its in another country :?

makes for a funny read if nothing else i guess.

You mean, just like Toyota shamelessly copied Mercedes when the Lexus LS was conceived?

It works both ways. Everyone copies everyone. Arguably, that's how Billy Gates also did it.
Much like when GM got rid of their outdated engine designs and sold them to toyota, thus the Toyota F engine was born, look at one sitting next to a blue flame chev 6 and you will see what I mean. powering landcruisers all around the world.

                    Re: Cheap Chinese Prado knockoffs

Two and a half years have passed since the last post to this thread. Things have moved on a bit - If you follow this thread you will see that Prados are now being made in China.
                    http://autonews.gasgoo.com/china-news/f ... 0212.shtml

" FAW Toyota's 20 thousandth Prado roled off the assembly line of the joint venture's Longchuanyi plant located in Chengdu, Sichuan, the West China City Daily reported yesterday. The SUV's manufacture marked the completion of FAW Toyota's shift to the new factory, proving that the JV is not going to be pulling any blows this year in pursuing its 2011 sales goal of 30,000 vehicles."

I suspect that the output will be targeting the Chinese market, initially at least. But in the future, 2 or 3 years' time, perhaps they will be making their way to other markets, such as Australia.

Te Asian markets - china, north & south Korea, etc - copy everything, not a mew concept. Lots of equipment we have on our Korean built ship is a copy of something (not all of it - but slot) right down to circuit breakers from our water makers and switchboards...

For the most part quality is shite but it's easily replaced with genuine when it brakes...

I heard that the Chinese bought a french, train once, stripped it and copied it cos the French wouldn't sell them the plans...
