Hey savage
I do a lot of my hunting on goats in the flinders ranges
plus the odd fox and bunny ,also got some land in the
river land where I shoot goats as well.
Darren
I use to do a fair bit of Fox shooting at a few properties I had back in Port Lincoln, but due to the wife deciding she wanted to move back to Adelaide with family havent put a round through a gun for over 6 months. I did though buy a secondhand Sako 75 S/S 3006 last month for deer down the S/E so looking forward to giving that a run next season. So ruger where in the Flinders do you shoot goats?
Regards Adam
Yep.....I have a Prado just like you Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China My Rig BuildTowing Camprite TL8s (if ya wanna look PM me)
I have been shooting since about 8 yrs old, just part of being a farm kid.
My kids all shoot, started with air rifles, then .22, and now teenage sons using 223, 243. My 10 yr old daughter has started shooting paper with 223, but handles .22 as good as anyone.
I do most of my shooting at night on a mates farm nearby. YTD we have shot 55 foxes on the property, up from 48 last year. Being open flat sheep country, many are taken at mid to longer range of between 200 - 375 yds, hence using 223, 243 which produces some nice paddock pizza.
Kids shoot rabbits with .22 & .223
Im just running in my new 223 Sako 85. Shot 6 foxes since picking up, rifle last month, a few rabbits and those damn crows just seem to fly across at the worst time.
My kids have all been taught about gun safety from early age, and why we control vermin in a decent humane way, including walking all the way across swampy paddocks to ensure that the fox or rabbit isnt suffering.
I'm giving my new Howa .308 it's first run tomorrow and my mate is bringing his new savage .308 up for a shoot too. Not a lot to shoot here, just hares, bunnies and the occasional fox, but tomorrow it's blocks of ice, water bottles and watermelons.
I have thought about inviting interested PP shooters up for a day of various targets shooting - might be best to wait till we have a few less stock though. I'm really keen to get involved more with the SSAA and go on some of their shoots in the flinders and kangaroo island. My 10 year old lad is a keen shooter too. He's a junior member of the SSAA and shoots better than I do with the .22! I'd love to go after some deer and goats down the south east too Adam - GTG diversion perhaps...
Cheers, Ben.
Seems there is a few on here that like to shoot. I do a lot of my shooting on farms near where I live mainly foxes n rabbits I like going up licola way after deer and I am trying my hand at the dogs as well not been suscesful as yet though. Next yr I want to get out on the goats and pigs with the missus and kids. Apart from hunting I am a member of the VRA and shoot in the FTR class using my Savage 223 it gets a bit hard to use the 223 from 800 back to 1000 yards but with patience and the right load it can be done I just have to remember to wind the elevation up not down hahaha. I just got a new Savage BA 10 which is very purdy I have just made a load for that so hopefully this weekend I will get it sigh

Hi Adam,
Its a private property just outside of Quorn, ive been shooting there for over 10 years. The best bit is the owner doesnt round them up and just wants them culled, i shot about 119 at christmas time with my newly purchased ruger gunsite scout in .308.
Theres a subject dear to my heart! Had some great properties via friends and family around Condobolin in NSW for pigs/goats/foxes etc, but since moving to Qld have not found any places close enough to go for a plink!.. The armory gets a regular clean these days... but scarcely a round put through them!... Would love somewhere within 2 hours of Brissie to camp and either target shoot, or some feral control... I'll keep looking!

My favourite would have to be hunting for the evasive Sambar deer with the use of hounds in NE Vic. Nothing better than standing in the scrub with the 30.06 listening to the hounds screaming their heads off! getting closer and closer with what hopefully will be a deer in-front of them! I also enjoy the odd feral pest cull with the .223 & .22.

Camels, goats, donkeys, horses, 'roos, dogs, rabbits, foxes and, my favourite, cats (ferals of course). That's why I live where I do. If I'm really clever I can bowl over a camel and then wait for the dogs to come in and grab a feed, knock them off and then wait for the cats.

I bought my prado to get me to my hunting spots. Chasing grunters atm around Canberra in Tallaganda State Forest with my Weatherby .243. We have access to property near Wagga, Tumbarumba and Corryong in NE Victoria where I use my Sako L461 in 222 Magnum for foxes and CZ 452 17HMR for bunnies. Get me started, I'll talk to you for hours about hunting. Proud SSAA member.
