Prado, - what weight have you towed?

Hi all,
What weight has any one towed with their Prado?
How far did you tow ?

I am guessing the 1KD-FTV is the better tower than the 1GR-FE.

So, putting the illegal argument to one side for now, not wishing to be argumentative.

My mates 2 tonne boat. But that was before I replaced the rear springs for airbags..

I have had about 33500kg on the tow.
Towed for about 200km.

just towed van to Pambula, windy coast road with plenty of hills.
Van is 2140 tare, guess it was around 2400 loaded, was only a short trip, so didn`t take too much.

It was another Prado, with a "spare engine" in the back off, all sitting on a 1100kg 4 wheel trailer.
So trailer, plus Complete Prado, plus spare engine,,,,

You might want to check the ATM/GVM on the van compliance plate the towing capacity is this figure most manufacturers use the ATM plus 400kgs and that is the GVM; Therefore 2140 + 400 = 40kg overloaded we nearly fell for that and purchased a van on the ATM of 2340.

ATM is the loaded figure on vans i was lead to belive you should have 3 weights on the plate (my goldstream does)

Tare = Van empty
ATM = Van loaded
GTM (not GVM) is the max weight on axle

ATM minus GTM should be approx ball weight

I prepare to be correctled ??

Heaviest I've towed was my mate's 90 series Prado, loaded with him, his wife & 5 kids and associated gear, while mine was loaded with me, wife & 3 kids. This wasn't on the bitumen, but on Fraser Is, from Awinya Ck to Eli Ck.
It was a very hot day, so I was keeping a close eye on my tacho for any sign the transmission might start slipping, especially on the hills, but it didn't show any signs of problems. It just kept pulling like a Clydesdale.
