Last Sunday our power went out for a couple of hours. I was out driving a short distance from home when I spotted a chunk of Prado 120 series allo bullbar sitting next to the remnants of a power pole. The pole was snapped about 1.5 metres above the ground directly above the 10mm slab of angle steel used to protect the base of the pole. There was also some glass and oil stains. As I cruised back to my street I noticed a neighbour's black 120 series was looking a little lop-sided. I had a sticky and the entire front left had been smashed backwards and upwards with the left front wheel torn off. This was the culprit from the altercation with the powerpole. Turns out the fella decided to take all the kids, who had been having a sleep-over with his own, up to Maccas for breakfast. He only managed to get about 1 kilometre before spearing into the pole after negotiating a right angle bend in a 50 zone. He pulled all the kids out, lucky none were injured, and made them walk back to the house. He followed and immediately had a drink. The troopers came along and he was breath tested and then taken away. Now it seems the insurance company won't be paying for any repairs because he was drunk at the time. I'm going around tomorrow to see if I can get a couple of pics of the wreckage. It's definately a right-off now. Amazing how much damage you can do at only 50km/hr, yeah right.
