We paid $1.41/L for diesel last week, still the same this week, and I paid $1.42 today for petrol for the 90 series. I reckon we get ripped off left, right and centre for everything, at least in Sydney :evil: . No wonder people would rather go OS for holidays than hang around here.

The highest prices in LA today was about $4 a USgallon for diesel. If my calculations are correct that is about US$1.05 a litre. If that is converted to Oz dollars at todays rate of 85cents, My guess is $1.24 a litre. Check it yourselves. The USA does have a lot more customers, so selling in bulk etc.....

I lived in London for a few years and its strange but you get used to the price. I was being paid pounds but it is all relative I guess. I always compared the price of of most things to a can of coke and it all seemed to work out similar to Oz prices.Originally posted by sparaI heard the price of unleaded in London was $2.25 / ltr last week

As long as the pollies get fuel tax based on percentage of the fuel rather than a fixed amount per litre, nothing will happen. The higher the fuel price, the more $$$ the government get!! :evil: Sounds similar to their pay packets... Constantly increasing for little gain in productivity. :?White '07 D4D GXL Manual, ARB Winch Bar, IPF 900XS Spotlights, BFGoodrich All Terrains LT 265 70 R17, GME TX3440 UHF, Safari Snorkel, ARB underbonnet compressor, IPF Fatboy Headlight Upgrade, Hilux Washer Jet Upgrade, Waeco 80L Fridge.

According to Australian Fuel Pricing Facts, Facts About Diesel Prices, Australian customers continue to enjoy low diesel prices by international standards.
Now, doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy.... not!
Basically, the document suggests the Diesel market is still too small, compared with ULP, for them to be similar prices.
With all these new TD Prado owners coming online, the price should be plummetting any moment now (eternal optimist
)
There was a program recently that concluded supermarket vouchers are a conspiracy and have contributed to rising fuel prices. Essentially, the supermarket chains have pushed out the competition; less competition = higher fuel prices = higher profits. Clever little monkeys! Damn, I hate beeing hoodwinked :xI assume you can check out the cost of fuel and get the shopping centre discount vochers at 4 cent per litre.
And when is Toyota releasing the Hydrogen-powered Prado?

Can't see why anyone is complaining about the price of fuels. It's called supply and demand and supply is waning and demand is growing. At least with a 180l fuel tank you can pick your days and hopefully avoid the very expensive fuel stops on longer journeys.
Worldwide the price of fuel is based upon the $US which is particularly weak at the moment. In Euro terms, the fuel price has not risen too much. With the dipping $A be prepared for another 10% rise real soon.
And yes, I know fuel is taxed at high rates but this is not what is driving up the price.2012 GXL Diesel Auto.

Im pretty sure that Australian oil prices are based on the Singapore crude oil index. That is because we are in that region.Originally posted by whitemanCan't see why anyone is complaining about the price of fuels. If the world suddenly dried up of oil overnight, we would have enough oil to get us through for the next 7 years in Australia at current usage rates.
A renewable fuel has be a serious consideration for any large manufacturer of vehicles. Hydrogen is the way to go at the moment IMO, the technology just needs to get out there so that costs decrease etc.. Plus its a naturally occurring element with no major refinement necessary other than the process to create it. Shit you could power a car for about 400 Km on a 1L of seawater.
I dont see that solar powered anything is a viable long term reneable solution as the very nature of the cells construction ensures that they have a limited lifespan to output ratio.
That and the fact that the owner of solar technologies are the oil companies, and its a known fact that sites that have been used for the manufacture of Solar cells get so contaminated that they are not fit for use after the factories have long shut down.
