With the 159 ltr tank I manage to fill up each Tuesday night before the Wednesday price rise... mind you, someone said to me last week that the Wednesday price is the RRP and the rest of the week they are actually giving us a discount gee, so nice of them
I could go 2 weeks at a time but it hurts less putting in 80 odd ltrs a week rather than the full 159 ltrs

$1.32 (unleaded) here in Brissie which is the highest I've seen it here for a while... nice how those over sized tyres have upped the fuel consumption by 1.5ltrs per 100Klm... oh well,
    Cheers, Leon

Yes but how much is a loaf of bread there? What's the salary for the average worker there?

If your respective answers are £2.50 and £800/week then your standard of living is relatively good (better than AUS).

the average loaf of bread here is anywhere between $2.00 and $4.00. the average wage is certainly not 800 pound per week, more like $600 per week. correct me if im wrong

The ABS quotes the average wage being $1100 a week or $57K a year, but they also acknowledge that the million dollar executives blow the average wage out. In reality the average wage is $35K to $45K a year in Aust.

Sorry should get back on topic here,

Adelaide diesel is around $1.47 /L and unleaded $1.34 /L today. I have half the main tank left so should be able to wait another week to see if it drops further

Maybe they are working on a solar powered Prado?
Just dug some facts up on hydrogen powered cars from a museum in Freo that I visited years ago.

As for fuel while the Govt taxes us with a fuel excise then charges us 10% GST on top of our tax, we will never have affordable prices. Also the more we need the higher the price the higher the tax etc etc.

loaf of bread; 20-50 pence. my weekly salary works out at £325 after tax. top line £28k/year.

believe me £104 a litre is expensive.

Mate came back from Japan today. Diesel $1.19/l. ULP $1.40/l. More refinement, more cost I say. Why the reverse in Australia? Because there's more ULP cars I hear you say. But in North Queensland, the ratio must be nearly equal, but diesel is always more expensive.

Can anyone explain to me the reason why diesel is $1.47 /L and unleaded is $1.26 /L.

                        Why is there a 21c /L difference?

You always see ULP fluctuate 15c /L during the week but when diesel goes up it seems to stay up. Are we subsidising the ULP discount ?

                        Curious

I'm skeptical myself... maybe its the truck drivers damaging our roads that the gummint sees fit to surcharge?

Just a wild assumption on my part.

Once upon a time when I was a wee lad, they sold diesel for half the price of petrol. The excuse then was that is was a poorer product and the market was smaller.
Trucks went to diesel to save some money on the long haul. Even some early model cars went that way to save a buck or two.
Over time more and more vehicles are produced to run on diesel and now we need it the price has skyrocketed.
The demand has grown and the supply costs have risen to give someone somewhere a better paycheck. Its just not me......

The price difference between ULP and diesel depends where you buy it.
I am waiting for my diesel Prado early next year.
Filled up out Nissan xTRail this arvo.
                              ULP $1.46
                              Diesel $1.48
I need to do some research about where to by diesel

not sure how much truth there is to it but a fairly knowledgable man told me that the days when ULP is greatly discounted, the price of diesel is always way up, so later in the week is the best time to buy diesel. He did go into all the politics of it but I'm not that good at relaying political jargon. (He's an ex political journo' so I guess he has some knowledge)

                                ULP was $1.38 here today
