Totally agree Steve, one of the shots shows the Osprey shaking it's head and wings to eliminate water on it's body, presumably to reduce drag.
When I see things like this I just stand in total awe of nature.

Where I sometimes fish in Port Hacking, there is a young sea eagle that has been hanging around for the last several years. Before then were 2 ospreys, but the eagle appears to have scared them away, as he is bigger.

The eagle will sit up in a tree some days, just looking at me, because what I do is kill certain types of fish that will float once they are dead, and I can throw them 20 to 30 feet away from the boat, and the eagle will fly down, scoop them up and head back to his tree. Might do this 2 or 3 times.

Some days he will descend quickly, and he sounds like a jet on a quick descent to the ground.

One day he flew about 10 feet above my head after picking up a fish. I copped a bit of water on the face, but he certainly has a large wingspan up so close.

Another wrap on raptors, there's some good clips worth searching on Youtube from the BBC and National Geographic on the phenomenal dive speed of the Peregrine Falcon. Feisty buggers even beat up eagles many times their size with a fist (closed talon) smack from above at 200+mph. That's gotta hurt!
