Famous People You've Met?

I thought that this would be an interesting thread.

It's not about the person who meets the most famous person wins, I think that it would be good to see who has had the opportunity to cross paths with someone famous, and tell a bit of a story on how you came to meet them!

If you have a photo please post it, as a photo tells a thousand words!



OK I'll start...

Last weekend I had the opportunity to meet Les from Hardcore Pawn.
My wife and I happened to be at a Vintage Show at the Brisbane Convention Centre and Les was a special guest. He had a little talk for about 30 mins about his show and then was happy to meet and greet the fans. He was a very nice guy!

I have also been fortunate to meet a few musicians in my time...

I have been a Jimmy Barnes fan since about 1987 (Working Class Man days).
When I was in high school my mum worked for a transport company and on my school holidays I used to travel a bit around the country with a few of the interstate truck drivers. One particular time my mum teed me up with a trip with a particular truck that happened to be one of 12 tour trucks for the "Barnstorming Tour" in 1988. I travelled from Sydney (my home town at the time) to Melbourne the Brisbane and Back to Sydney. Jimmy played at the entertainment centres in the mentioned cities and I was backstage in all of them.
I met Jimmy and his band on that occasion and several more after then as I kept in touch with the right people.
The particular photo below was taken at a special drinks Jimmy put on one xmas for a few of his fans at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney.

Saw Hutch last weekend in a certain newspaper ad and had him around later that evening, down down... Does that count?

Seriously but, massive Scifi fan so my favourite picks would be William (The Shat, Kirk etc) and Christoper (Doc Emment Brown) Llyod. Both meetings made my day / night. Photos yes, just have to dig them out.

I met Craig at the Gold Coast 600. I was invited to be a guest in Vodafone's corporate box above the pits.

From a 4wd point of view, its almost 12 months to the day since I ran into Fred Wright from 4wd action at the Prarie Hotel in Parachilna. I ended up having dinner with him and got on the DVD they were making at the time.



I was also fortunate enough to meet Anne Beadell before she passed away, unfortunately I never met her husband and my hero Len Beadell.

They weren't famous at the time but I went to school with Tony Modra, who went onto play full forward for the Adelaide Crows. I also worked with Mark Bickley before he went onto Captain the Crows to the 97 and 98 AFL Premierships.

Not mentioning any names but I also went to school with (and had a serious crush on) a Girl who went on to be infamous for being convicted of a dual homicide for the exection style killing of 2 bikies, both shot in the back of the head!

Simon Christie. Had dinner with him as he is good friends with a mate of mine. Have a photo somewhere. Ran into Simon about 12 months later and he remembered me.
Jim Grant aka Lee Child author of the Jack Reacher books. Got a few of my books signed and chatted for about 10 minutes.
Barry Graham. If you know your '70's speedway and Bathurst 1000 from the '80's you will know who I am talking about. Also founded the Richard Petty NASCAR drive experience in the USA and consulted on the final race scene in the Cars movie. Really nice bloke. Been to his property 3 times the most recent 2 weeks ago.
John Harvey through the car scene. Got my copy of his book signed.
Peter Brock through the car scene. Got some stuff signed.

The latter two was more of a hi sign this please.

Mmmmm Does backpacking through Europe in my younger years (1989) with a cardboard cutout of AB (Allan Border) count?
AB (& I), visited the Acropolis, Skied at Sarajevo went to Oktoberfest in Munich, did the running of the Bulls- Pamplona, Paris for the Bicentennial Bastille day and many more. I must say, Allan Border couldn't have visited these places without me!!!
