Good work, but is your missus retired as well?Originally posted by MidLifeCrisis View PostOh, I quit.
I am taking a sabbatical to complete my renovations from hell and resolve some financial issues for my parents.
Re-employment is NOT an issue, in fact it will be a no-brainer and more rewarding.
I am just loving the fact that I an unemployed and will have all the time in the world to do as I dam well please!
We both are, but the missus plays golf, tennis, gym work and other things. And I go fishing, body surfing, have a vegie garden and fruit trees to look after, a drink and feed with the boys now and then, and only really meet up at tea time!!!
Heading off in the caravan is different though, stuck with each other most of the time!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha Ha Ha

I see the opposition wants to get 10,000 refugees to "work" for their benefits. They can't even get the lazy locals (black and white) to work for their money. And they're going to cutback on 457 visas giving Australian business the chance to hire locals. If the lazy locals wanted the work then they wouldn't need 457 visa workers to fill the gap. People don't want to move in order to work. Take the job or get bugger all I say.Dave

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

So so true Bushbasher, agree 100%, same as increasing retirement age, for f*** sake, get the dole bludgers off their arses ( I'm not referring to genuine ones) and get them to work, doesn't matter what it is, don't want to work then no dole payment, same as some of these cancer drugs costing people thousands a week for treatment and the government won't recognise it yet people coming in illegally and we spend millions to cover the cost, then the ones burning things down cause their not happy, don't like it ?? Then piss off back instead of me and other working prople having to pay more taxes for new mattresses, pisses me off big time...... Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

DaveOriginally posted by BushbasherWe have heaps of unemployed people around here. They are always on holiday and travelling around visiting the rellies. They're always coming from the bottle shop or Maccas. They get around in free cars that they burn when they run out of fuel. When they get sick they get the best medical care and there's no need for them to phone the surgery and make a booking. No waiting 2 or 3 weeks to see a doctor for this mob. If they are really ill then they get an immediate flight out to a nice big city hospital. No queuing up at the airport either. RFDS or RATS as they are better known out here (Regional Aboriginal Air Taxi Service) is available 24/7. And when they get better a free ride home via a chauffer driven service ensures they arrive home safe and well. Even though they are unemployed they still get paid every fortnight. And, if they run out of cash between paydays well there is always the Salvos, St Vinnies, Red Cross etc that will help them out. Oh, mustn't forget the additional pay day per month when the royalty cheque gets cashed and the proceeds shared around for all to enjoy. And, if your kids are looking a little under nourished, DCP will give you $250 to buy food and clothes for the little beggars. Yep, oh the unemployed life. Can't wait.
Passive welfare is simply the worst thing anyone could offer. We're up at Tennant Creek this long weekend and the amount of Government offices up here that offer the full spectrum of services to those on passive welfare is pretty impressive. Its pretty clear there will never be enough employment in a place like Tennant to take everyone off welfare but yet we offer free money to keep those folks here.....
My wife has just been offered a job with the RFDS in Alice so she will be busy transporting that's for sure. My neighbour in Alice was a pilot with RFDS for 12 years and just got sick and tired of being an overpaid taxi driver. I must say we flew from Alice to Tennant on RFDS and it is plain boring.....Even if you have a love of flying you'd be thinking of your sock drawer on the way....
Oh we just finished up lunch at the local "Animal Bar" here in Tennant, the bar does look like its being funded by my taxpayer money :-)

Was up there a few years ago around Kakadud (Kakadu) and I was surprised by the number of women playing card games and throwing piles of $50- notes into the betting ring. I could have done a snatch and grab of the piles of notes, would have been able to buy a new 150, with a tip for the salesman (probably no tip). My kids wanted to know where they stole all that money!
A few days prior to that, visited Hermansburg, saw one of the locals buy a hamburger and coke, he had that many $50- in his wallet, he could not close it. Just a f**ken disgrace they are given so much money, with the kids having not much to eat. And as he walked out of the shop, he unwrapped the hamburger next to a garbage bin and threw the bag and paper wrapping onto the ground beside the bin.
Then again, saw a few 'locals' who were very pleasant, had a job, happy to talk to us, etc.
