I figured as much. my partner accidentally hit a tree in my car, bent the TJM bulbar, selected D instead of R, I just laughed and said remember how I shrugged it off when I do something to your car, :-)

I'm sure it will all go well Case - sounds like you have it all sorted. Don't think I have heard of shopping at Bunnings before in preparation for a proposal!!

On a related note, just out of curiousity, for gay couples is there any protocols in terms of who gets to do the proposing, or is it just first in best dressed so to speak?

I don't think I can answer that. Not that its a bad question, Just I don't have an answer. I just feel its what I want to do.

Some of these proposal stories have been giving me a giggle so thought I might share how my hubby proposed-since it was so classy and romantic! We were cleaning out the pipes for the septic tank (we had a party the night before so they were very blocked up) when he proposed, had the ring in his pocket and all. I waited 8 years for that question to be asked and can honestly say I never once dreamed that would be how he would ask. He claims that it was one last test I had to pass before I got a ring. We have a joke now amongst friends about his "crappy" timing.

HAha. This isn't a bad thing. I just figured something simple and meaningful. I wanted to have it done before I fly my "fiance", my Sister and Mum back to our hometown for my Mums 50th birthday.


I pulled my finger out and stumbled across a bought but never worn second hand ring today. Worth the amount I wanted to be able to pay for considerably less. so I have to pick it up tomorrow. Now I just have to find a ring engraver to engrave a special saying into the inside of it.

Now just to buy the padlock and have it engraved and the final touch. A six pack of coronas.

Well back in the day - geeze it has been 12 years already! When we were living in Canada (Canmore, Alberta) I found a goldsmith/jeweler and had a diamond from a previous relationship. Anyways, took her there when we both had days off and said, "It is your ring, you design what you want to wear." Being a nurse, and practical a nice simple white gold ring was made. I did say I would choose when, I'd pop the question.

Shakespeare in the park, picnic basket, wine - too bad the play was Macbeth....

Our wedding day was the 21st of September 2001 - my best man arrived from Canada the night before, after spending 96 hours in Calgary International Airport trying to get a flight.

The ring Has been purchased, cleaned and the inside of the band engraved with a 3 very important words.... "I Call Dibs"

My budget didn't accommodate the padlock in the end as the ring was more than I had budgeted for. But nothing wrong with proposing with a beautiful view. And without the padlock I can afford to have beetroot and pineapple as an extra on my kebab. I have been trying to think what to say but i think that i know the fundamentals of what i'm going to say so the rest can be "winged". Make the moment special.

So its done. I did It last night.
went up to the lookout, watched the waves and city lights. After explaining how he is my more than my best mate, and that I look forward to coming home and seeing him after work. I asked, Got a yes straight away and then I guess the rest is history.

Now everyone is asking questions I don't have the answer too. like a wedding date and how meany strippers of what gender for the bucks night.

I guess this means more planing than I though would come up so soon .
