Anyone else have issues with their PC and need advise? I wanted to start a thread where members could post their issues and get help with their computers. Feel free to post your own questions or offer assistance to those with questions.

i'll start off with the following:

Any one got a fix for the pc it's getting noticeably slower of late, tried cc cleaner Glary utilities and defragged but not much better it's only 18 months old 2.6 processor with a 1 gig G C 500 g of memory and 4 g of ram so plenty of grunt but not much enthusiasm,
any help appreciated,

Most of these types of issues are just due to lots of old cr@p filling up your PCs registry, etc. CC Cleaner is good for drivers, etc but you probably need to go into your browser and flush all cookies and browsing history, etc. I haven't used CC Cleaner for a while so not sure if it now covers that sort of stuff.

These problems are a bit hard to diagnose over the net, you kinda have to be sitting in front of it or do a remote login

I'm a bit confused about your specs though. It's a 2.6 processor but what family? Is it 1 gig of RAM or 4 (asking because you mention memory after the 500 g figure as well)?

1gb graphic card.

Might be worthwhile doing a registry clean...carefully and make a restore point first. Also, it never hurts to sit and watch task manager for awhile and see if anything is using your ram? How much of your hdd is used?

The best way is to back up your data and do a clean install of your system and only load the programs you wish to use. One that is done you create an image of your system so if something happens i.e. you get a virus, hard drive dies etc you can either wipe your system or install a new hard drive and reinstall the image. Takes a lot less time and you don't have to do all the updates etc again...

I also do the image thing. With kids etc we have 8 computers and 4 android devices at home, easiest to keep an image.

Things I would check first;
- Disk space
- installed programs
- start up programs

I do the same when building a PC but tend to get lazy and not do periodic images after that, gets hard to keep up with all the updates MS likes to send through.

ooh, just something I like to spread the word on.

awesome when finished installing the OS. Automatically creates an installer for all those little programs you need.. check it out and just remember it.

The installer is a walkaway type setup, it agrees to all the T&Cs and does NOT install all the awesome little toolbars that come along with these programs.. you know the ones!

Yep gotta agree with that, OP doesn't mention OS - XP, Vista, Win 7 or Win 8 - or linux distro....

At work I manage a fleet of over 300 PC's/Laptops, iPads, iPhones, networking (switches, routers, WiFi and WaveLan), printers and all those lovely "add hoc" systems that spring up.

While on a general sense I can offer MY OPINION of what I think the issue is, it is hard to say. I do work on the side for employes that I work with, and get a bottle of whatever...

Which is why at work, I don't have time to work out random issues - deploying a new image is four mouse clicks. My PC at home is 4 years old now, and running Windows 8 - but installed a 512GB SSD and have 12GB of RAM.

Again in MY OPINION, most people that have issues are Acer owners - the amount of "stock bloatware" that is on those things is epic - and there is usually a reason they are on sale all the time...There is a reason why the state government is dumping them, if favor of proper Tear One Vendors.

OK, so what's the 500 g of memory you refer too then? Your graphics card memory is only an issue when rendering images on the screen so won't play a big part in general system performance (unless of course it's slow graphics updates you're having an issue with).
