I also discovered we didn't have all the ingredients, so I made it up. I also discovered that almost a whole bottle of Church Block disappears to get that elusive 1/2 cup of red wine.

I learnt that when walking in the kids' room at night with the lights off and in bare feet, it is safer to scuff than to lift your feet. Kicking your toe on a toy is preferable to standing on one.

I learnt what it feels like to use my hand winch... for 40m uphill over rock steps.

The contents just evaporate anyway. Takes years but why risk it?

I have just driven the Pacific Hwy from Gold Coast to Sydney and back over last week. Stop go men are definitely the latest high growth employment category. North of Coffs Harbour one truckie announced on channel 29 "It has taken me exactly 2hrs and 12 minutes to do 120km." Avoid the road for a year or two is the best advice I can give. If you have to use it north of Coffs use the Summerland Hwy Through NanaGlen - Grafton - Casino and then via Bangalow to the Pacific Hwy.

My "the leader of the opposition" learnt today that it is better to use the brakes installed by the manufacture that the truck in front of you to stop the car (work car and not my Prado thankfully). More importantly she is ok.

                    What I learned today...

I need to read these about my new 150.

first go at the new manual 150 on the beach. Old numb nuts didn't know about the electronic stability control and traction control. Basically it's a good idea to turn it off on the beach. Although it turns off in low range, that ain't much good in high range... I call it 'auto bog control' now . Once I worked it all out, and dropped the Coopers all the way own to 10psi (really chopped up powdery sand), the 150 went brilliant !!!!!

                        • That, after just over 3 and one half years of servicing and repairing my Prados, my local dealer has finally remembered not to wash my car or put bloody sheen on the tyres and bullbar. Hooray!

                            • The last time someone put that shiny crap on my tyres I told the service manager that if it happened again I would be using his hair to remove it.

                              Been good since.
