Mick, prepare for your life to change forever, however the good far out weighs the bad. And you thought PP was a time waster, wait until you have a new born and it takes up most of your day doing basically NOTHING!!

And then they grow up and you don't want them to be lonely so you do it all over again!!!

Nice to hear the good out weighs the bad :lol: all we get is "You don't know what you're in for... No sleep.... Endless nappy changes... Vomit.... " Blah blah blah.... :roll:

Mick,

It is no chore looking after you own. You only regret the time you can't spend with them. Your whole life changes direction - for the better.

Just stay away from the first few poos, its like rubbing tar off the duco with cotton buds soaked in warm water.

We drove Darwin to Adelaide when Harry was 6 weeks old (8 weeks by the time we finished).

He now floats beautifully - Drive 'em early and young.

We gave Lorelai her first off road experience on straddie last week @ 5 weeks old... she loved it of course
(mind you the beaches were like bitumen roads where we went)

Yeah you do hear horror stories but work it all out when it happens. Ours is now 3 weeks old and we do have a few sleep shortened nights. However we catch them up at other times.
Must say the feel good situation sure makes up for a few wake up calls.

My tip is that they cry for a reason. Usually because they are uncomfortable. We talk they cry.
There are only a few reasons why they cry at such a young age.
Hungry
Wet/Dirty
Sick
Lonely

Problem is they dont come out talkin and you have to work out what is wrong.

Good things are
They smile eventually
acknoledge you
do funny things that are great
do things to suck in the grandies for chrissy time.
Draw every onlooker everywhere, usually with a smile and sympathetic chat.

Everyone will offer the solution on how to do things and you can listen but should do what you think is right cause it normally is.

I'm very proud to anounce the birth of our first child, Riley Daniel, Born at 10.55 on May 28th. Came in at a very healthy 8 pounds 11 ounces.

Unfortunately it was via emergancy C section and due to complications mum had to have another bout of surgery the following afternoon. 10 days later we are finally home and all is great with Riley and mum is recovering well.

Many thanks to the staff of the North Eastern Comunity Hospital and Dr Beth Russ and Anna Boff without whom I'm sure things could have been a lot worse for us.

Congrats again Mick, and glad to hear bubs is healthy and that Mum is recovering well. Lots of my friends have had their youngsters born at NECH's and only hear positive things about them.
