Re: CAR FRIDGE, WHICH IS BEST
I have a waeco 80l that was in continual use for a 5 month lap of OZ with both a mix of being put on 240 in the caravan parks and on the aux battery. It went well with the freezer bit chokas with meat.
A couple of learnings
The 80l has 2 fans 1 sucks cold air in and 1 blows hot air out they need as much air around them to work properly or hot air is blown out then sucked back in, i had to flip the fridge around so the fans were at the back and then drive with the rear quarter windows open to keep getting the air changed out same if you left the car totally shut up and night it would be hot as in there in the morning.
While i do like my 80- and will not be giving it up any time soon if i had my time again and money was no object i would actually go 2 40s and run 1 as a fridge and 1 as a freezer as you end up with icing problems in the 80 as you are exposing the freezer bit to the air every time you get a beer.
For an extended trip get the biggest 1 you can afford as to get the savings you need to spend up big at the major centres so we had an 80l waeco in the car and a 50l that came with the camper and both were chockers most of the time
