I dont know if you guys are aware but the only difference between the 50L an the 60L Waeco is the height. The motor is the same, the length and width are also the same. That will be why the price is similar.

I see that rays outoors have an easter sale on at the moment. I also noticed that they've got 20% off Waeco 40,50 and 60L fridges with a free thermometer and Engel 40L with bag, thermoelectric cooler and a few other bits and pieces for $1149.

I think I may have to sneak in there after work tonight!

Crammy if you get the price and go to Amart all sports they will match and beat it by 10% I got my 60L Waeco and protective bag for under $950 that way.
I was laughing, they were crying when their price dropped $350 for the both.
          edit they sell engels too.

Used to be on the road near the showgrounds in from the Subway, but the webpage says Stocklands Earlville. Perhaps that is the same place dont know the shopping centres too well in Cairns.
BCF had them on special when I did my deal. I presume they would have the specials coming up for Easter.

Something else I thought about today Crammy was that Anaconda also does the beat it by 10% deal just like Amart allsports.

Well I picked up a 60L Waeco today, $919 @ 20% off from Rays Outdoors here in Cairns

I we went to Amart but they were a wake up to the rays special. They said they'll only beat it by 10% if the advertised price is not on special!

Anyhow I got it home and she's all working. One thing I did notice is that I think it's old stock which is why they're on special. The new models have an automatic Turbo function where as mine has the manual button for it. Anyhow it'll keep the beers cold!

After many discussions with the Mrs about Waeco vs. Engel we decided to go the Waeco for the following reasons.

                        1. The waeco has a smaller foot print (but is taller) to make the most of the room in the back of the prado where as the engel was lower but had a much larger footprint.

                        2. Cost vs. storage, the 60L Waeco is the same price as the 40L Engel.

                        3. Current Engel annoyingly noisy when on the rough stuff.

                        4. Efficiency of the Waeco is marginally better.

                        5. Weight of the Waeco is significantly less than the Engel. 60L Waeco = 21kgs, 60L Engel = 33kgs, 40L Engel = 24kgs

                        6. Went the 60L as it was bugger all more over the 50L, and would be handy for the billy lids down the track.

Things I'm unsure about would have to be the longevity of the waeco although it's going to be subjected to quite a few trips off road within the next 3 years (warranty) so we'll see how it goes. I know quite a few people with the Waeco's and the only thing they have had trouble with so far are the latches on the lids.

If it doesn't work out I'll trade it in on an Engel down the track, but I'm anticipating that everything will be good as gold 8)

                        Cheers,

                        Crammy

When I got my 60L Waeco it had a five year warranty. Apparently they are a bitch to repair, so if anything goes wrong, you want it to go wrong during the warranty period.

You will find that you can still see out the back over the 60L too. It sits just lower than the second row of seats.
