It's all too confusing:
1. I think, therefore I am.
2. Compared to that old army line- dont think, just do it. Does this mean I am not?
3. Think for yourself! - Does this mean there is really only me?
Taking point 3 a little further, why the f%$* am I writing a post to myself? and then asking myself the question?

The onus of proof lies on those making the claim something exists. In science, we first try to prove an hypothesis wrong, and when we can't, then we try to prove it correct. You're stopping half way.

I used to be a paid member of the Sceptics society, who if you are aware don't believe in anything that cant be proven by science. I let my subscription lapse as I thought they lacked scepticism about science

Some people will jump to accept any 'alternative' version of the facts regardless of their source. That's what gives conspiracy theories traction and once there is a core following, the gullible get roped in. At that point, it is no longer about the facts, it's about what you want to believe.

So as a scientist who looks at everything from every angle , have you watched 911 mysteries part 1 demolition which was produced by a guy who was so incensed by some of the other 911 conspiracy film s that he set out to debunk them and ended up producing this one . Good viewing , if your not biased either way , or gullible . $6.99 on ebay , cheap entertainment if you have the oxygen . Or just view it on YouTube . LOL

I knew dropping the reference to god would create some interesting discussion. Come in, spinner! Trust me, when you work in the line of business that I do, there's no way that some all-seeing almighty creator, who allegedly created everyone in his image, would create "humans" who stick there appendage in any orifice of any creature, front, back, sideways regardless of age. However, the younger the better - they tend not to complain.

By the way, was talking to a pilot mate today and asked him what his theory was. He said that the plane could have gone as far as they have predicted - if, and only if it was flying at 30 - 40,000ft. If it was flying below the radar height it would be capable of probably only 1/4 the normal range. So, who's telling porkies now?

Just to be clear, I'm not a scientist, sorry if I gave that impression, but I do have a pretty good handle on the process.

There is a difference in quality between verified, supportable evidence and what you might find in a film or documentary. There is enormous editorial freedom to present opinion and/or misinformation as fact in a documentary. If you made the documentary with the sort of rigour that is required in a scientific investigation, hardly anyone would watch it. Deadly boring to most people after 5 minutes. To breathe life into a documentary, you have to have people describing experiences and putting forward opinions, and the more outrageous the better.

I'll keep an eye out for it though, might be fun to watch.

So AUSSAR/AMSA got given some special information from the US regarding the flight path of MH370. Somebody was watching it.

The US have been able to identify number plates on a vehicle from a satellite for god knows how many years . Back in the days of the beginnings of the mobile phone they were able to track your whereabouts from a light plane as long as your phone had a battery installed without you even knowing it . That's how they caught Pablo Escobar .that was over 25 years ago . Do you think the yanks would be able to use facial recognition to find a terrorist hiding in a compound in Pakistan from a satellite , And yet we don't have even a clear image of the pieces of junk floating in the Indian Ocean , but we have sent Christ knows how many aircraft and a naval ship to check it out . They could probably read the serial numbers on the parts of the aircraft wreckage , but nobody wants to let on exactly what their extent of surveillance capabilities ,they have , especially Australia after we just told the Indonesians we don't have bugger all ability to spy on them .
