Sadly it's not mine. But he did love to tell it!

Mine are rather boring. Only one of note was when I was a poor student and bought a 28 year old Volvo 343 from a scrap dealer for 150 quid. It needed it's MOT (rego). It was a beast. One fuse in the engine bay was some al-foil. Battery Earth strap had corroded to the body. Exhaust was rusted so we cut the central section out, and spliced one off another vehicle, just made a cut across each end, pushed it on and u bolted them. Copper greased the front brake pistons as they were sticking.
Took it and my mums 9 year old Corolla to the garage for the MOT.

Hers failed the emissions test. Mine passed. She was livid.

When I bought my very new first car in 1990. I walked into Tony Packards at the time in my shorts and thongs and sat in one of the new cars (was only a holden Barina but was brand new). Salesman comes out and says mate their not for mucking about in, you cant afford it see you later. I was 22 at the time living at home working full time on cranes and paid little board so I had the cash. So I walked out saying F### you ass#ole and went to another holden dealership. Walked in ordered the car and was ready in a week, aircon, sunroof, mags etc had to be fitted. Drove from their straight back to packards and parked as close as I could to the showroom, walked in and called "hey Ass#ole remember me" see that, you lost a deal from been a prick. By then new car sales manager comes over asking what the issue was, so I informed him of what had happened and what I thought of his salesman, then walked out. They later got in the shit for recording peoples conversations in the sales offices, you know when the sales man walks out and says Ill give you a couple of minutes to talk it over with each other.....Worst thing was I worked for toyota at the time and was pre delivery manager so had a pretty good idea of the bullshit they carry on with........Cheers Steve
