tested me swag out about a month ago and was really impressed was a very cool night up the beach, around 7deg and only had a 10deg sleeping bag and had the cover zipped up with the end flap down, woke up in a lather of sweat, would be interested to see how it handles a good shower/ best $260 bucks i spent, just roll it up and throw it on the roof rak and ya ready to go

I ended up getting a Bourke & Wills Redgum XL and am very happy with it so far. Fittings and finish are high quality. 15oz Australian canvas. Very comfortable and like most other swags, so quick and easy to set up or pack up. I got a great internet deal through a camping store in Brisbane. Paid $399.00 (yes thats not cheap, but this swag is a good one and ticked all or most of the boxes for me) I've seen the same swag at another BIG outdoor place for around $530, so I'm very happy with the swag and the deal I got.

        Nice deal

I think the Southern Cross double is well north of 500 bucks...

is the southern cross double the same as the arb double swag, if it is there is a price difference.

The southern Cross dome swag retails about $680, I picked one up at the resent Maitland camping show for $630 & havnt had a chance to test it out yet.
It is badged "ARB Newcastle" but they had a southern cross canvas salesman selling them, like alot of ARB products they are just re-badged.

they seem not a bad alternative as you say matt, the price is right and it seems to have a h/d 14 oz canvas, the best thing to do when ya buy one is to set it up and give it a good hose around the stiching, when it dries out the canvas will shrink around the stiching making it more water proof, i did my swag a few times to make sure, just need some rain now to see if it leaks, you can get waterproof sealers but im not sure what they will do to the canvas in the long run.

i had a look at the mitchell single, they r pretty lightweight, they use an 10 oz canvas which seems a little light for me, if im spending some good money i would get the most h/d i could for my money. just a though.

I'm away in the bush about 4 days in 10. Over the cooler months I use an Australian Outback Bush Gear swag. Previous makes I had only lasted about 2-3 years before they worn out.

My current one has lasted over 10 years and is still water proof and the zipper still works. The only precaution is I use a cotton liner when I am really filthy to keep the inside clean.

                    Here is a link:
                    http://www.4wdworld.com.au/products/aus ... /index.htm

They are made in Australia down in Fyshwich. I think you may find most of the ARB/TJM/campingworld ones are made in china.

Are you after a tent or a swag PradoGXLV6 ??

Have you had a look at high quality one man tents, they maybe cheaper, lighter and a whole lot smaller to pack ? Some of the better ones are made out of breathable material that allows all the condensation out.

I don't like the tent style swags as condensation forms on the inside walls and makes your sleeping bag, sheets, blankets all wet when you roll on them in the night. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the basic swags as all you hot air escapes out the end.

Don't know about why they don't have a website?? I have not spoken with them since buying it.

                          Swagman one looks good, Matt.

I tried my ARB Newcastle swag one last night in the yard with the boys and it was a bloody beauty - only thing, I think Swagman's mattress might be better and well worth having for the thicker mattress.

Nothing that a trip to Clark Rubber won't fix with mine though...

I've got a Ultimate Swag & love it, its has full mesh over the top & both ends, its great for up the cape & the tropics as it has very good vetilation & the swag sits a bit higher off you than a normal swag, gives you a bit of room to move to get dressed or read or what ever. it also has a canavas cover that can be rigged up in different ways, as a sun shade or fully enclose the swag in wet or cold weather
