  • Toyota 4Runner and Tundra

I was at a 49'ers game yesterday in Santa Clara and Toyota had a couple of 4wds there on display.
Got speaking to the head of Toyota there about the 2015 4runner.
The silver one had a specially designed factory 6 inch lift, which is legal and insurable in the US , running 35's and wheels, custom roof rack, lights and some interior and was less than $47K drive away brand new.....
No diesel option, just the same engine as the FJ cruiser. Looked good in the flesh. Some photos below

Also there was a new Toyota Tundra with a big lift and Mud terrains. It was one big pick up truck.
Look how high it is compared to the peoples heads in the photo below. The guy in the cap next to the mirror is about 6 foot tall...
    Awesome amount of room inside.

Anyway got into a interesting discussion about the 70 series with Mr Toyota said he wished they could get them in the US, especially with the v8 diesels we get in Australia. Said we were very lucky. lol

    Cheers

We have a 2014 Tundra at work, pretty nice truck but bit dear. Makes the prado look like a girls car.

Very cool rigs, that 4 runner is certainly not what I expected to see.

Why only petrol, is diesel being phased out?

          No demand over there.

There's a mob over there that does diesel conversions on FJ's. If they're using the same engine for the 4Runner it wouldn't be too hard for them to get a diesel into it I would think.

Had a 4Runner for 10 days in Orlando very recently ($52 p/d rental). Not a bad car which is slightly roomier that the Prado, somewhere between that and an LC200.

Rear window is electric which is handy...

Yeah. The silver one looks better. But the one Craig posted is not nice. What's with the swollen lips look? It look like its been getting Botox injections

I quite like the look of the Tundra though. But it's huge. Not sure is get it in my local woolies car park. And price over here us astronomical compared to what the yanks pay. Why can't we just slap a "Caution: Left Hand Drive" sticker on the back and be done with it instead of this right hand drive conversion rubbish.

Analogy... "The new 4Runner was a little bit like first meeting a chic with a facial disfigurement. You notice it and cant stop looking at it at first.

But after you've been inside it a couple of times and enjoyed it's ride, you start to not notice the disfigurement and enjoy it for what it is....

                            Too harsh?
