  • Company car, what to get?

    I have been offered a company car (loose my car allowance though which is quite substantial). I work as an onsite network and systems admin.
    I'm tossing up what to look at. It needs to carry stuff from time to time (servers, PC's etc). Any feedback is welcomed.
    Things it needs:
    * Auto
    * 4 seats (min)
    * 4cyl (turbo ok)
    * Petrol or Diesel
    * Large boot
    * It must have a flat boot space that's plastic to slide stuff in. (van like)
    * It can't have a lip into the boot (so puts must sedans and hatches out). This is for lifting purposes. It's easier to lift in/out without going up and over a lip. WHS issue.

    Basically it's gotta be van/station wagon like. We have a VW Caddie coming this week for another employee so I'll see what it's like. As much as I'd like a new Prado as a company car that's a bit beyond company budget.

    Any ideas of what you think like might suit?

      Have a look at the Hyundai sante fe. They have a lot of bells & whistles airbags etc for a lot less than other suv's and they have come a long way since the old exel

        Personally I'd be looking at one of the wagons like a Mondeo or Passat if it's doing double duty as family and work car. Mondeo has more luggage space than the Territory. If you need the height then you'll need something like a caddy van but if it's just blade servers then a wagon/suv will prob do

        In a previous life I used to drive a Ford Transit and it was the most car like van I've driven, but it's prob too big, and not sure they come with the second row seats any more.

          That might be a plan. We do work for a local Toyota dealer.

            Another vote for Mondeo.

            We have an 07 TDCI Sedan and I love it to bits, except for the euro indicator which I always swore I would never get a car with...... you do soon get used to it.

              You mean the indicator and lights are ass about? I hate that.

                But great fun to watch when someone else gets in the car. We have a ford and the Prado. Wifey laughs here head off when I drive her car and go to indicate and wipe my windows instead.

                You soon get used to it.
