          He's a Nordic Walker!

Nordic Walking is one of the fastest growing recreational activities in the world and has its roots in the early 1930 as a summer training method by cross-country skiers in Finland. Development of Nordic Walking to its present form as a recreational physical activity for all started in the early 1980's in co-operation between one of the world's largest pole manufacturer Exel Oyj, researchers in sports medicine, and other fitness professionals. The first official Nordic Walker poles were introduced to the public in 1997 and the International Nordic Walking Association, INWA, was formed.
Funny to see it in the middle of the outback though

On an outing not so long ago, our group heard a plea for help over the radio. Anyway after a number of snatch attempts, we had to lighten the bogged car. The only way out for this poor women was through the window. Snatch anyone?[attachment=0:3d24n3eg]Picture 107.jpg[/attachment:3d24n3eg]

Then there's this Landcruiser we spotted just south of Alice Springs. With that huge box on the roof he was only able to go about 70km/h and was swaying wildly from side to side - there must have been a lot of weight in it. It extended the full length of the car.

                        Cheers, Wayne

Funny, I watched a bunch of young guys building that (thing) opposite my office in Narrabeen (Sydney) over the past few months. Had a talk to them about the 'top heavy' issue, they said they were keeping all the gear in the cruiser and just using it for sleeping.......
Dam thing still looked increadibly unstable to me......It's a small world.

Found this old can along the Talawana track while heading for Rudall River. I found it near some old ruins (stock yards) and the funny thing about it was the expiry date. The can had Use Before Jul 7 1939 stamped on the bottom of it. Strangely enough I found it July 7th 2009 - exactly 70 years after the expiry date. I'm not sure how long it had layed out there but someone had gone to the trouble of adding a wire handle to it. I never realised they had expiry dates back in 1939!

The can - about 10cm tall.

If you look carefully you can see the expiry date Jul 7 1939

                                Location it was found
