    I've stared at that thing trying to work out wtf it is until my eyes hurt.

    It looks like some sort of chute or loading system, maybe part of a crusher plant? but, it's level and in the middle of nowhere...

      I had thought it might have been a water tower for a railway, but these where not usually made with timber and I couldn't see any sign of a railway. I also thought (as a joke) that it was part of a screen for a drive in style cinema but that would be really off the mark.

      Country side sort of looks like northern Eyre so I thought somewhere along Googs?

        Ok guys... you are right about the background, it is in a very arid area, what may surprise you is thats it's in Victoria.

        It is a loading chute and there was once a railway line underneath it.

                      Yes it's in Murray Sunset National Park (Best known for it's Pink lakes). The abondoned mine is actually on the Nowingi Line Track (Former railway line). The hopper is approx half way between the town of Nowingi and Rocket lake.
