  • Re: "Spot the Spot"

Well done Ozwapet2 over to you.
Just logged on to check on the post to get things moving on this pic.
Took my parents for a drive from Pinnaroo to Scorpion Springs.
Down the Border to the Center track To Pertendi, onto the Pinnaroo - Bordertown road back to Pinnaroo.
I want to do the Border from river to the sea, cooler months will be the go.
OME suspension will keep the belly of the ground next time as well.
    Cheers Troy

We'll keep with the huts theme ...
Can't do a Prado in this pic sorry.
More points if you've actually been there.

Great looking Hut and nice bushland surrounds, could it be High country Victoria?

Yes - I helped out on a few weekends.

              It is Victoria.

One more clue : It's on A River ..........Somewhere.

That should give enough clues to get it.

So it must be on the Howqua River. probably upstream of Fries Hut (spelling?) and probably upstream of Pickerings Hut.

Do we have to list all the huts along the river before we get it? Perhaps say if it's on the left or right bank (North or south)

Very warm .... yest it is further upstream and on the south bank. It was originally built by the same guy who built Fry's hut on Frys Flat ( a bloke called Fred Fry funnily enough ).

This hut here was actually pre-built very near to Fry's Hut and then knocked down and choppered in to it's final site ( 4 tonnes at a time, slung under one of the heavy lift fire bombing choppers )
The rest of the materials were pack horsed in or carried in the 6km in backpacks by schoolkids from Timbertop and Lauriston girl's school.

What a great project to have been involved with Ozwapet!
Looks as though the hut will stand for many years, Bush fires and vandals permitting.

Well you're obviously researching hard Voilet it so I'll let it go to you..... Ritchies Hut it is.
If you get the ABC TV series "A River Somewhere" on DVD you'll see the hut features in episode 1.

If anyone wants to get involved with the hut resconstruction work let me know and you come and try a weekend with us - it's good fun, you'll meet characters and see places you'd never get to otherwise, and and puts purpose into owning a 4WD ( you'll get to use it trust me ). Suits some, not others.
                        Cheers, Wayne

I thought it might've been Bluff Hut... but obviously you've help re-build a few of them.

Is it the "fishy pub" at fish creek in Victoria on the way to Wilson's Prom. We used to stop there every time we went down to Yanakie and to friends caravan in Toora, great part of the world. Apparently the fish is meant to be a mullet.
