  • You got it Chippy

My first photo was taken from Northern end of beach, from where the Elephant Rock track goes onto beach. Its a bit off the tourist route, and is one of the softest beaches at times. 10 psi at times
A bit after this pic I had to let skinnys down to 13psi on the Hilux to get out, and then subsequently rolled it off the rim as I got out. Drove back to Busso and bought some tubeless rims

The Deepdene cliffs are on private property, but can be acessed still I believe. We used to go there as kids.
We go to the beaches around this area when staying in Augusta. If its windy, then there is a beach somewhere that is protected. Ie Cosy Corner, Deepdene, Hamelin etc
    Cheers

    • I thought I recognised it.

I've done the Cape to Cape walk trail a couple of times with groups of troubled kids ... as a bit of a Wilderness Intervention Program.

Evryone carries their own stuff ... and no-one gets left behind. So when one of them cracks the shits we all get to sit down and wait.

Last one I did was 5 days .... as there was quite a few agro little buggers in the group. It helped that it was cold and wet all of the time .... makes their smokes really hard to light.

... but the scenery is awesome.

      Cheers

Chippy...it was a lucky bay guess......lots of bays down that way...Lucky bay is a pretty spot though...lovely colour of the water......good camping spot too.

This is one of the most interesting places I have visited...aborigines called it the Mountains of the Moon...they stayed away thinking it was haunted....I must agree...it was a spooky spot but fascinating landscape regardless.....!

Went there before I gor my Prado....in the reliable go anywhere old Falcon!

                          • yup

yup...it looks like 1,234,673 other picnic spots I've seen on the road.

Some more pics of the "mountains of the moon".....so what is their real name???......a popular destination for 4wds though many come unstuck if there is rain...or should I say "come stuck" if there is rain.

You have to cross this "river" to get there....

It gets bloody hot up here...

The ground is littered with broken lava which reflects the heat back at ya..........big clue, there was a bad plane and helicopter crash near here earlier this year....

                            • Google says a plane and Helicopter collided at 7.50pm earlier this year, 170km's east of XXXXXXXXXXx which is an area close by.

Based on this and some further surfing of the net.

I guess the River would roar when it flows.
And if that was the case then the spot would be a place I haven't visited yet considering it is on the other side of the continent from where I live.

Looks like a place to add to the destination files.

                              • yup

yup it is on the West Coast.....or at least inland from the West Coast.....and is on the road to someplace which has a rock bigger than Ayers Rock.......and yup in the right season the river does flow and is pretty mighty when it does.........and yup it is 170 kms East of XXXXXXXXXXx and is worth a visit indeed.....do put it on your list Buggrd.

It is a very ancient area and felt more remote than any other place I have been to in Australia.....and I have been to quite a few.

The local shire has a population of 285 and covers an area of 58,000 sq kms. the nearest town has a population of 46 and a very old pub.

I reckon you have got it coverd Buggrd and perhaps you should now reveal the name of the location and post a pic of your mystery site....?
