Lake Gairdner is venue for a speed trial event every year or so if the surface is hard enough, which it hasn't been the last couple of years.

Mt Ive repeater is running on Channel 7

Good camping facilities and shearers quarters. Has fuel and grog, but it's a bit expensive (what would you expect?) The station provides local mud maps for several tours about the station. Their access to Lake Gairdner is by locked gate - you pay a small sum for access, or drive around the other side to the National Parks access point which looks into the sunrise. The mountain behind the station is called Mount Scott, you can drive up there too, I've heard it's just as rocky as Mt Ive...

      Over to you Lofty.

      • Cool , would never have thought of going there, but maybe its another one to add to the list.

Try this pic, name the two rivers flowing into one. Bonus points for the peak in the background.

        Enjoy :P

                  TASMAP LINK

Hope that link works... It takes an age to load if it does, so don't get impatient with it.

Anyway, according to tasmap, the tall mountain behind is Mt Picton at 1327 metres. there are some lesser heights in front of it though, Pear Hill at about 500m, and Mt Riveaux at about 600m. All part of the same range, and aligned to the Huon/Picton rivers junction.

                  • Looking at lofty's photo again, I think it's pear hill. Too close to be Mt Picton. Have you got any more photos of it lofty?

                    • Yep, that's the airwalk alright. I rafted this river a few times before the walk went in and it was a lovely peaceful spot, unfortunately another commercialised piece of beauty. They have done an ok job of it though I must admit.

By the way, get it at high water and there's some fairly scary rapids in there.

Only a couple of the Airwalk, none showing the peak in the background.

Thanks for the map link and feedback guys.
