The clues have given it away - Is it the landing pad on Big Red? (after the rain)
hmm... I haven't heard of it being called big red before, so I'll have to say no.
I've heard of a "big red" at Glasshouse Mts, QLD, but that's not this photo.
It was in a 4wd action dvd.. dont make me watch it again.
its the end of a track in the vic high country.
Getting close.
My photo is taken from the end of a track, from a lookout, on a peak.
The photo is looking down on a famous track, and the landing pad is on that track.
Another clue: It's a helicopter landing pad.
What track is it on?
Its on the bloody windy track not on big red, but is reknowned for being "spotted by Victorians (I am seriously not even attempting humour with that one)... I got it, its the Mt Windy winding track in the Vic High country!

They all seem to know, but nobody wants to claim the prize......
I am in the same situation...don't have a followup spot to post.
My clue narrows it right down - I reckon the pic has been taken from The Pinnacles in the Vic High Country.
Name that track!
