Vivonne Bay it is, well done Dobbo and Les.
Voted as Australia's best beach by a panel of experts along the following criteria: "The first requirement is that the beach is accessible while still being remote, making it easy to get to but free from overcrowding. The second check point is that there's no beachfront development. It has to be at least a few kilometres long to accommodate a basic number of people comfortably and feature a headland or bay. The final element of a great beach is a good surf."
We camped on a 'council reserve' not seeing any no camping signs, which didn't go down very well with the exclusive and expensive tour operators. They tore down the dirt track and came to a screaming halt for their guests to get half an hour on "Australia's best beach", to be greeted by our camp all set up with tea towels and the kids undies flapping in the breeze.
A couple of hours later a council inspector turned up and asked us to move on. We managed to convince him that we weren't doing any harm, and he said that he didn't want to see us in the morning when he came back. That night we enjoyed a magical sunset and then moonrise over the bay. Spectacular!!
