  • Don't stick your arms out of a vehicle whilst 4wding....

I often tell people not to... this is one of the reasons why. So easy for it to go wrong.

If you've ever seen a person with an amputated limb through road trauma, you'll never stick your arm out the window, ride a motorbike without proper protective gear, etc...

It'll never happen to me... until it does.

Years ago I rode trials bikes. I was warming up before a comp doing the usual stuff in and around trees over rocks and stumps etc and my left boot just touched a stump and spun me off the bike. Luckily I was in proper competition footwear otherwise the foot would have rotated 180 degrees while the bike and me rode on. Made me glad I had full kit on even in the preliminaries and also never to take it to casually. Scary stuff. Rehab takes a long long time.

I was always taught to wind the windows up when 4wding. Putting your arms out seems to be a reflex action when getting close to a wall or some object. At least the window stops that...

Nature has a way of correcting things in due course. He won't ever do that again. Okay, he's American, so there's a possibility that he just might.
