Any plans to return to civilization? Hope the family is well.
Cheers, Ben.
Driving home last week with only the 2 spots wasn't ideal.... should have changed the lenses over so I could have the spread. I think the 3 lights set up in the normal position will be the go, with 2 spreads and 1 spot.
All the girls are great, life is awesome and if it continues like this, we'll be home Jan '15. So our 'big smoke' visits will be the April and October school holidays until then
Cheers mate

Moving into a rental property that was advertised as "split system air con in lounge and bedroom" only to find that the air con in the lounge doesn't work. After speaking to real estate they tell me that the owner won't fork out for a new one as he has no money! Well what is he doing with the money we give him each week! By the time he will be able to afford it , we will need a heater!06 120 GXL 1KZ-TE man, modified exhaust, K&N, OME 2",spacers, Sovereign BB, Safari Snorkel, Hella 4000, 33" muddies, ARB 60L fridge / slide ,custom rear drawer, cargo barrier and table, Ironman 9500lb Winch, TJM underbody guards, DIY Radiator bash plate, Outback Ideas recovery points, AJ's sliders, CKMA12, lockers, ext rear breather, UHF, dual batt, SBi12, ARB alloy roof cage, ARB side awning...

I would be knocking off $50 a week till he fixes it, the amount you pay is based on what the property contains eg split syst aircon... While I certainly don't approve of people trashing rental property's some times I can see why people get pissed off with landlords but again I certainly don't condone of any one doing it...... Take it to the tribunual if you dont have any luck dealing with the agent. As a landlord I can assure you the tribunal (SA anyway) is totally biased towards the tenant, the landlord gets shafted at every turn. In this case its false advertising so he should be made to come to the party anyway.
As for anyone understanding a tenant trashing a house, well having been on the wrong end of a couple of minor trashings and one major trashing I can not think of any reason to justify doing that. In fact we are looking at getting out of rental properties due to tenants being able to do what ever they like and us getting left with the bill every time.
Phil as for what your land lord is spending the rent you pay him on, well probably the mortgage, rates, water, insurance............. the only money to be made out of property is usually when you sell it.

Hi there AJ we were the same wife and I looking to buy investment property and after seeing all the things on today tonight or a current affairs we thought stuff that don't need the headache of it all. And yes if any profit it's normally when the property is sold. It's a long term thing if you want to make some $$$ out of it. Have been on the end of some arsehole landlords myself when renting in younger days, treated the house like my own which was spotless after I moved in and cleaned it to my standards then try and screw me for the bond, luckily I took pics of every thing for proof but would never have dreamt of smashing holes in walls and destroying the place like some low life ferals seem to think they have the right to do these days.... Like with everything.. there are good landlords and bad landlords just as there are good tenants and bad tenants. I own an investment property and manage it myself. I think I'm one of the good landlords because I maintain the property well and am flexible with reasonable requests from my tenant. But I've also represented family members at the tribunal when they have had issues with their (asshole) landlords.
My tenant complained to me recently when I gave them a hard time for not paying rent on time - I reminded them that I'm just a normal bloke earning a normal wage, and the rent they pay me doesn't even come close to covering the weekly mortgage, rates, water, insurance and strata fees on the rental property. So when they are late with rent, I have to pay more out of my own savings to cover for that - the bank doesn't give me any slack if I'm late with my payments.2008 Charcoal 120 GXL - D4D Auto with Option Pack

We have had over 550mm of rain here in Gladstone and the wind gusts at the moment are about 100kph. The harbour master has closed the harbour to all vessels.
Good luck if you still go camping.Politicians And Nappies Should Be Changed Often - And For The Same Reason.

We've got walls to close off the sides incase of wind driven rain, but we've decided to cancel as of a short while ago. My relatives a bit further north advised it's off.Last edited by Brett1979; 25-01-2013, 03:12 PM.2005 120 series V6 Grande, 2 inch susp lift (King/EFS combo), 32 inch MT’s, Safari Snorkel, rear diff lock, breathers, Light Force spotlights, UHF, dual batteries.

Yes MLC, and Steve M, I'm thinking a reduction in rent should hurry the process up. Meanwhile I'm cooking in the heat/ humidity up here. We are slowly getting used to it.
The other thing I noticed is the detail in the rental agreement that states we have to keep the lawn watered and up to scratch, which I have no problem with, but then it states I have to foot the bill for the water as well. It certainly pays to read the fine print before signing.
