  • Novacaine is a legal product.

(The company that distributes it has 75% market share, world wide, for class A pain killers. Sales reps (like they are needed) cannot by law carry any product, at any time. All the same, they have to be careful not to identify themselves to the casual observer or have any product literature visible from outside of their vehicles.)

    But I digress .... I'm not a drug addict!

          • In the process about to start root canal on two teeth (one either side at the back just in front of wisdom teeth then will need a crown on top of both, 4k thanks for coming. This week (Thursday morning) at least is only a clean so wont be too expensive, and I'm liking the sound of that Novacaine. Is this some thing you can buy from a chemist over the counter ?? wouldn't mind some before I start even the cleaning process that's bad enough....have to take Hutch's advice but I hate dentist and needles with a passion, and the associated costs for it all.....Cheers Steve

With a Root Canal it's fairly certain they will use a needle to numb you up, the gel they use on your gums when cleaning wears off too quick. Trust me, take the needle. I had a Root Canal recently after they had put on a Crown previously. I was really annoyed that they drilled through a perfectly good crown to do the RC and during the 2nd visit the crown popped off anyway. They stuck the crown back on 2 weeks later and so far so good. I had 3 visits for the RC all up but was only charged for 2 of them, cost came to $600 from memory. The Crown was about $1000 so $1600 all up but that was just one tooth (a molar with 3 canals).

                    • Suitably pissed. Apparently young girl in a mitsubishi lancer was making a head check at the time... I know it's only an old Commodore, but I loved this old girl and now it's probably going to be a write off because some bloody kid just had to add LOL to the end of her text facebook status update while driving.

                      • Bummer! So is it more than just the panel damage we can see in the photo?

It's a real love hate relationship with this thing...
It loves to break down and I hate to fix it.
It loves to go fast and I hate the speeding tickets.

                          • It all depends on the assessor, the policy of the insurance company, etc. I have a '93 Celica that had damage to every panel on the drivers side, which included front and rear bumper.

                            Repair quote - $2200.00.
Vehicles insured payout value - $4000.00.
I thought for sure they would write it off because of the cost to value ratio and age.
                            They repaired it. Go figure.

                            • Cost of repair needs to be 70%+ of market value before they total it.

Unfortunately, the VT Berlina LS1 doesn't cost a lot of money.

I have been told by many in the game that this is misconception. I have no idea as I don't hang out with insurance types, etc, however, case in point - some years ago a colleague owned a 3 series BMW about two years old. He was t-boned at traffic lights. Instant write off for sure, lots of damage, repair bill was above the magical 70% mark. Vehicle was repaired.
