That's why our next trip over the Christmas break will be somewhere in the NSW outback.

Way to go Fred. We have mostly done the 2 or 3 week fly and drive holidays but this trip has been very different going where we want and stopping as long as we want has allowed us see some great places we wouldn't have taken the time to visit previously. I just need to win tonights powerball so we can keep doing it

My wife and I had the same discussion last year Fred re outback NSW. Now we have an extensive 5 week NSW/SA trip planned for July coming. Cant wait!

Great idea but... make sure you look at the max/min temps for where you're planning to go. From experience it's not so much fun in 40C+ heat!

We only have the 4 days off over Xmas, but no family commitments this year so I am thinking a quick jaunt that will just take us into outback NSW, but probably cant make a decision until we see the weather forecast a week out. Might have to keep an eye out for you Fred

lol, I understand the sentiments... Bali is cheaper than the gold coast though.

Insurance will cover all my additional costs. My big gripe isn't the volcano, it's jetstar's lack of communication. Some days we found out our flights were cancelled by logging onto SMH.com.au - not an email, sms or call, or even the jetstar website.

I did realise though, when out in a pub/club in bali, im getting too old for it

Amber light runners. On many of our main arterial roads we have big yellow signs that start to flash as a warning that the lights are about to change. If you can see the flashing lights then you have time to back off the throttle and brake easily for the amber and red traffic lights. Doesn't matter what type of vehicle you are driving - moped, motorbike, car, truck or road train. The majority of idiots, and many are heavy haulage drivers, will choose to hit the gas and try to outrun the light change. So many times I witness the vehicle speeding through the intersection often as the red light is illuminated. I have to look in the rear vision mirror to see what the clown behind me is going to do. The other day, the guy in the ute behind me accelerated around me into the left lane to beat the lights because I was already backing off in preparation for the stop. He didn't anticipate that the truck in the left lane and slightly behind me had also hit the gas and was trying to beat the lights. He almost collected the ute. We often joke about the Sydney drivers whose motto is "it isn't red until it's been red for at least 3 seconds." Seems like it's become common practice around the nation.

They need speed cameras as well as red light cameras to catch the ones that speed up to get through. Although there cant be many red light cameras active anyway because a lot of people have no hesitation running reds

It is getting ridiculous the regularity fools are driving through reds. It's about the same as the amount of ice deals I see going on, not to forget the fools texting or talking & driving.

Bring red/speed cameras to every Inter section!

Software that stops phones from accepting texts or allowing typing while on the move would be good. Did I mention FOOLS!!!!
